Honda is not giving us in NA the best version at all. sucks

 

The lengthier profile of the NA Fits is supposedly due to more stringent bumper requirements (the high number of SUVs in NA no doubt is a factor...)

Contrary to popular opinion, I prefer the look of the North American Fit over the Japanese one, whether they're '09 or earlier. I guess I don't like the "egg" look

 

Given that the current Fit has only been out 2 years here in North America, I am surprised that more people aren't hating on the new 09 Fit. Most buyers that bought an 07 and early 08 probably had no idea the Fit had been out since 01/02 in Japan and a new model was this close on the horizon.

 

I realize the exterior is refined mainly for safety reasons.(ACE) Perhaps, the NA drivers are not as skilled as the Japanese drivers? Debatable. Anyhoo, I find it humorous that the subcompact has 4 side windows, most on a vehicle of any class.

I thought the ACE front end frame structure and is on all the new Fits, not just NA. Most Hondas have this now.

 

You may be right. Just looking at the pictures of the Pink Japanese model someone here provided looked like an egg. To be honest i have not seen the side profile. But there are some pictures of the "Platypus"(NA Fits) at different angles and still do not resemble the Japanese egg shaped Fits. I do see a difference but cannot decisively conclude they are indeed different. My eyes could be playing tricks on me.

I like to change my vote from not liking the redesign to liking the redesign. The nose does not seem to be as long as earlier photos of the Fit's side profile. I retract my "Playtpus" name calling. Here is a picture from the home page.

 

Correct. ACE deals strictly with the strength of the frame. They vary steel strength on key areas of the frontal frame.
