dealer stalling?

A Honda salesman told me a week ago that he had an 09 fit with navi on the truck, due to arrive any minute. I put a 100.00 deposit on it with the idea it would arrive very soon. A week later and it still hasn't arrived and he's vague about where it is. Another dealer has a car coming in onj Sept. 8. They showed me a manifest with their two orders, 1 for the 8th and another for the 23rd. According to them, the manifest showed my original dealer hadn't actually ordered a car, and was probably trying to get it from another dealer. The newer dealership is closer to me and offered the car for 240 less than the first dealer, which means i'm still ok even losing the deposit. I have a 7 day deadline to get a low interest loan from the bank and I really, really want to make that deadline. Is one or both of them trying to scam me?

Ask for your deposit back - which an honest dealer would do - and go buy the other dealers Fit. Now.
If the first dealer renegesyou can use small claims court. He's the one who failed to meet the 'contract' not you.

Go ask for your deposit back. If they give you problems, go up the chain. If it were me, I'd buy from the 2nd dealer on principle. But I am not sure how they know what the other dealer ordered. I'd have them show me that information.

I thought this thread would be about stalling the MT fit at the dealer during you test drive due to nerves.

The dealer owes you that deposit back.

Tip: in the future, if you have a credit card, always use it for something like this. That way if someone took a deposit and didn't find you a car, you can simply dispute the charge if he's not being nice about it
