My chinese Honda Fit
My chinese Honda Fit
Dear All,
I'm Italian and I live in China since 2000. Just recently I got my chinese drive license and so I bought a car. I picked the Fit becouse I think the best car in the chinese market (in its segment). It is a 1.5 i-VTEC CVT, I'm really happy after the first 2000 Km. I'm even happier now that I have found this forum and web site, It's really interesting to see that a big community is growing around this small but incredible car.
Ciao

Hi!
traffic in China is getting terrible month after month, especially in cities like beijing or shanghai. In medium (chinese) size cities like hangzhou where i live it is still reasonable but soon will be crazy also here. Air pollution is a big problem but motor vehicle are not yet a pricipal source, especially for PM10, anyway it is not confortable to keep windows open when you are driving in the city traffic.
Fit is a great car for chinese cities, especially with the CVT. I am Italian and in Italy the automatic gear is not very popular, this fit is my first automatic car and I'm really happy. Drive in the traffic assisted by the cvt is really confortable.
Here in China gasoline price is still low compared with europe, 40 euro cent per liter, in itali is 1.23 Euro, but the price is risingand soon or later the price will be not so much different from the rest of the world. Consider that in china with 4-5 RMB ( 40-50 euro cents) you can have a meal.
I Have evaluated several cars before to buy the Fit but actually this is the best buy in its segment in china.

That's the problem with every big city in the world, the traffic and pollution and the cost of gasoline. No fun. I wanted to ask you about your Fit. Does it seem like good quality? The reason I'm asking is that I saw a post about a Chinese Fit and the owner had brake problems with the car. I would think that Honda moniters the way they build cars and that the cars are of good quality, no matter where they are built. The cars in the US are built here, and they are good cars. By the way, I agree with you about the automatic transmission. All my cars for years were stick shift, and sometimes it was a pain to drive in the city. I have a small truck now with an automatic, and it is great for city driving. I think the CVT 7 speed is the perfect combination for a small engine.

My brakes are good and efficient, it seems the problem mentioned in the forum was for the first batch of fit produced last year. Anyway i going to check with the Honda Dealer.
CVT (my CVT it is not the 7-speed, unfortuately not available in China) is absolutely confortable in the City but 70% of my monthly Kms (total 3000Km) are done on the speed motor way from Hangzhou to Shanghai (200 Km) and I must say that the 1.5vtec cvt is great also in that condition.
Have a good day!
