08 Fit Auxillary plug

I bought an 08 Fit LX. Just wondering if you guys got an auxillary cable that came with the car? Keep in mind that I bought mine in Canada.

I have one of my own...but when I plug my mp3 player into it, the sound only comes up on the right side. I had to twist my cable a bit to make the metal touch so that the left side has equal sound. Is this a problem that can be fixed with another cable or do I gotta go get it fixed?

No, the Fits with the auxiliary jack do not come with a cable for it and it sounds like your cable is bad. Whenever you go to get another one try to get one with the copper or bronze tips. Those last a heck of a lot longer than the stainless tips.

the wire might be kinked on the cable you're using

either that or its the jack and it isn't making contact, try another cable.. if it don't work then take it to the dealer as a warranty issue.. its a cheap part

you're probably using a phono cable rather than a 2-channel stereo cable. does your cable have two black insulators at the tip or just one? if you have one, try a cable with two at both ends. if that doesn't work for you, then it may be a warranty issue. removing the center console isn't very hard, if you need to take that route.

It's got 2 black insulators at the tip. I'll try another cable. If that doesn't work, I'll bring it back to dealer.

Thanks guys!

I just purchased a decal for my 2008 Fit and along with it came an auxiliary cable.
Can someone either point me to a post where it tells how to use this cable with an iPod or briefly explain here how it works?
Thanks.

I'm going to try. I don't own an ipod but have another MP3 player. Get your ipod running as if you're listening to it with headphones. Instead of the headphones plug in the aux cable where the the headphones would have been. Plug the other end of the Aux. cable into the Fit's Aux port. Hit the Aux button on the fit's stereo! Anybody that wants to chime in with better instructions, I'm totally cool with it. I made it as simple as posible!

Thanks for your help. This is just what I tried, but still hear nothing. Could it be that a particular brand of iPod works or doesn't work?

Can you listen with headphones first and make sure that you can actually hear the music prior to plugging it into the fit's aux port? I'm puzzled! This should be simple!

I'm trying to figure out if some new auxiliary cables I bought will work with my iPod in my 2008 FIT Sport, but so far not so good. No sound.

Is the 2008 Fit Sport actually designed to play iPods via Auxiliary mode?

Thanks for any input.

Ok folks, for those of you using any form of MP3 with the aux port do this...

1) Plug one of the ends into the aux port.

2) Plug other end into MP3 player.

3) Press the AUX button on the head unit. (Go figure )

4) Find the song that you want to listen to and select it.

5) Set your stereo's volume at fairly low level, (5-10) crank the volume on the MP3 player to its max, and press play.

6) Adjust the car's stereo to your desired volume and your good to go.

Anything (ipod, zune, cd player, walkman) that puts music out through a headphone jack should be able to provide a signal and act as a source for the aux port on the fit. If you can hear it with headphones then the aux port ought to be able to hear it as well.

As Hootie mentioned, you have to select the Aux input by pressing the "Aux" button on the headunit.

And, make sure the ignition is on and the Headunit is powered on.

Make sure your ears are in "listen" mode.

Make sure the volume on your iPod (or whatever) is up.

Make sure volume of the headunit itself is up.

If you can't make it work like that, try another cable.

You are using a 3.5mm audio cable connected to the headphone jack, right, or are you trying to use a USB cable?

The Aux In on the Fit dash really begs for a 90 degree connector, to keep it from sticking straight (duh!) out.

I bought a couple different lengths of these;
3' ft 3.5mm 1/8" Gold Right Angle Stereo Audio Cable - eBay (item 230292121690 end time Sep-29-08 18:53:17 PDT)
to connect to the audio output of my GPS receiver, which also plays mp3 music and XM Radio.

IfTheFoo; On this seemingly friendlier thread, I think I can mention I am in Yavapai County, West of Prescott. I make frequent trips to The Valley, even stopping at The Billett occasionally. Cheers!
