looking for car with good fuel economy
gas mileage
I am also very disappointed with my gas mileage. The very best i ever get is 30 mpg on the highway with no ac running. Normal operation gets me about 27 mpg. I have 8000 miles on it,maybe it will improve. I will mention it at my next service but i doubt anything will change. If it got better mpgi could put up with its faults, but now i hate looking at it,driving it and making the payment. Im not a Honda hater, wife has a civic,i love their motorcycles, but to me,the Fit is a big disappointment. Oh well, live and learn and buyer beware!
Something must be wrong with the car if you are getting mileage the worst i've seen is 32mpg in the city this winter when it was -25 celius. Hmm
I don't think its a buyer beware for all Honda Fits as your case does not justify reasons as to why they have sold 1000's of these cars.
There are 1000's of them that get MPG in the 33/38 mpg range.
Plus every review gets the range of 33/38 mpg.

Anyone using any Fit with manual transmission will be fine.
Anyone using a 2007-2008 Fit with AT will report lower mpg.
I had 5000 miles on my 2008 and only once got 32 mpg using only highway driving and most of the time got about 25 to 27mpg even with very gentle mixed driving.
The automatic transmission cannot deal with- start and stopping, urban travel and short trips, any sort of hill, and any sort of load in the car. I used a scan gauge II to assist and it showed poor mpg during those conditions.
Without trying I can get about 30-32 mpg with my 2006 Honda Civic sedan with AT under the same driving conditions. More power, better mpg, not as fun to drive but more comfortable.
