Hate the big bumpers! Looks like a damn matrix
I've been reading the other posts and also noticed
that the US fit looks a little different from those in
the UK and JP.
Someone posted that the bumpers are indeed larger
to comply with the US crash test standards. That's
great but it changes the car's look entirely.
Does this bother anyone else but me?
Everyone is complaining about the MPG but the
bumpers are what are really putting me off!
Is anyone else planning to buy the Fit still but is
already planning to buy the Fit bumpers from abroad.
IF I'm crazy or picky tell me but I'm sure it's bugging
someone else out there - It looks like a matrix now!

You are not alone........
Ya, those extended bumpers really don't help the looks of this car at all. I'm not crazy about the turn signal in the headlight housing either. And yes...the MPG is quite disappointing (yet much better than my current car at 18/24)
Yes, if I do decide to buy this car, I would definitely consider a body kit to replace that long snout.
What I do like about the Fit is the cargo room / Honda quality / and hopefully a very affordable price.

I have heard that the actual fuel economy reported by Matrix/Vibe owners is quite poor--mostly in the high 20's range on overall driving. If the Fit can get 33-35 mpg in "real world" driving that's still a major improvement over the Matrix/Vibe, and the Fit's interior configuration ability is WAY better than that of the Matrix/Vibe!

The average age of my cars when I have sold them is 12 years old. I don't see too many 12-year old Nissans out there, but I see alot of 12 year old Toyotas and Hondas. My Accord is now 14, but I doubt it will last until 15.
If you really want to improve gas mileage, ride your bike to work a few times a week! I do, and it helps tremendously. I fill up my Accord about once a month.

If I lived close enough to work to be able to ride a bike, I wouldn't need a car with great gas mileage.
Looking at those two red hatches side by side, we can rest assured that Honda makes a product more pleasing to the eye than Toyota. The Matrix just bulges in too many directions for my taste. And what's with the sides of the Yaris? Freeaky

US Fit Sport and Japanese 1.5LW and S versions picture Comparison
This is a picture of the US 1.5L sport

Pictures of the Japanes Market 2006 honda Fit base model

The JDM 1.5S has a much nicer front bumper and body kit than the US sport version

It may be just me but I dont see much of a difference in the base model JDM car's bumpers and the bumpers on the base or Sport models headed to the US. The US sport model just has the body kit from the VTi-S model sold in Australia in 2002-2005

Yeah Yeah
Sorry I brought it up. I just thought the US version bumpers looked a little
wonky and angular compared to the JP models. Also someone on the other
posts stated that the front engine compartment was longer as well (not
including the bumper) in the US version.
Can someone confirm this?
And concerning riding a bike to work, my friends you've never lived in
Los Angeles have you? Oblivious soccer moms in urban tanks yakking
on their cell phones everywhere. There are some parts of the city
where I don't even like walking on the sidewalk.
I have to drive defensively in my civic. There is no way I'm riding a bike
(motorized or pedal version). I'm rather fond of the way my arms and
legs work.
