Test drove Fit today -- one dislike
I loved everything about the car except one thing: setting the steering wheel to where it is most comfortable for me blocks the top half of the speedometer--I can't see the 60-80mph range without craning my head down. Plus the steering wheel diameter seems a little too small to me--I wish it had a bigger diameter.

I think it is only with the 09. They put a smaller steering wheel in it. At first, the same thing was happening to me (I'm short 5'7") and the way I had the wheel/telescope/tilt set it was blocking. after some experimenting I found the optimum where I am comfortable and there is no blocking.

Well I've never dealt with this sort of issue before. Was wondering how big a problem it is to deal with on a daily driving basis before I buy the car and have to live with it.

is steering wheel diameter just a personal preference or is there a corresponding change in one's ability to steer the car (handling and/or amount of "spinning" needed to do a 360 turn around) depending on steering wheel diameter?

Ethier u can live with it or not its really up to u. There is not much we can help U with on here with this issue. It does not seem to me like a big problem i could live with it. But i am not u so if it's a big deal look into other cars. But GL with it

Yeah, I noticed this design flaw immediately, but it's about the only thing wrong with this car. I project that the '10 model will rectify this problem. If the driver's seat would eventually offer height adjustment, this would change everything. Still, after a day or two of driving, this becomes no big deal....

i test drove the auto (they didn't have a manual for '09) and got in and was comfortable right away no problem. (i'm on 5'5" so.. could be that). i once had a focus that didn't have telescope steering wheel so learned to deal with it all the way jacked up =p

My problem with the speedometer is that they only mark every 20 so you don't know if you're going 64 or 66. I wish they would stretch everything out, they have the real estate I don't understand why the speedometer goes to 140 or whatever it is. The maximum indicated speed should be like 90.

i hardly look at the speedometer. my mom's TSX is the same way, just learn to visualize where the marks are... or go the same speed as the rest of traffic. oh.. and for how high the speedometer goes - when i get my fit i'm sure i'll have it going over 100... my accord goes 125 easily stock.. (we tend to play around when we go on group car drives here with the local car group)
