i need ALL of your HONEST opinions

I have 6500$ left to pay off on my Fit, and it has roughly 41K on it.

Should I..
A: Pay off the Fit and get an 09' Si in the spring for 21K and have ANOTHER car payment but benefit from it because the Si is an MT rather then my AT slow Fit.
or
B: Save up the money and just get lots of upgrades for my Fit? Like a turbo kit, exhaust, etc.?

What do you guys think and what would you do?
I'm going to base my decision off of statistics.

honestly i would say keep the fit as a dd and if you want to get a fast car don't get an si there are alot better cars that are reliable and have much more bang for the buck.

keep the fit as a DD. You can find used S2ks for >$15k now and since most are younger than 8 years old you can still finance one without a ridiculous interest rate. It won't be brand new but it's an S2k, it's a Honda, and you know there is just a big of aftermarket for them as a Si, plus they are way cooler.

The Si is cool, K20 is fun, I'm just not that impressed with them, to me it's another DD with some more ponies. I am a big time Chevy/GM dude so I'm going to say check out some used Solstice's as well. Even the non-turbo version is quick, fun to drive, lots of potential, and a huge aftermarket for the ecotec.

I am being honest and telling you not to limit yourself to the Si or a new car. You can find tons of used cars in great condition that are way more exciting to drive than that for the same price or less.

This is such a tough call. How much do you like the Fit is the question? If you feel like your ready to move on, and dont depend too much on the Fits versatility id say get something new.
I agree with Fitcapo dont stay dead set on Si's, look around at what you can get in that price range. Just a quik example, i was looking at Lexus IS250s today on Autotrader, it wasnt rare to find 06-07s with less then 20k miles, in great shape, with Nav package for right around 25,000$. Look up what those go for new and you will relize what a deal those are. Keep your eyes open! Although i do love Si sedans haha.

Honest opinion?

Okay here's my honest opinion... Keep the Fit and pay it off. Drive it until it die. Save the money, you'll enjoy your life if have more money on your pocket. Car is just a car and will depreciate.

i agree with the other posts. Getting the Si would be nice if you LIKE to drive manual. That way you have a choice everyday. But if you dont mind driving the automatic, id go KWSC and blitz throttle controller. But the S2k idea sounds good, since the automatic fit would make a great and convenient DD, having a 2 seater on the side wouldnt get too inconvenient. But for me, evern since i got my Fit, i dont think i could go back to driving and Auto, just feels weird. Or you could even get a SI coupe.

Keep the Fit as your slow daily driver and get a performance car for the weekends. I would still consider an SI a slow economy car. In my perfect world I would have my 09 Fit and an E46 M3.

Pay off the Fit and continue to pay the same amount into investments for your future. You are smart enough to buy a frugal car, do not screw it up by buying more depreciating assets.

Get a girlfriend who has a sweet ride, works for my buddy. He dates based on the car and her looks, shallow Hal I call him.

Cheers

yeah, i'm really going to have to go w/ the used S2K here over a Civic Si. fwd is neat and everything but that Si just isn't going to be as satisfying as the S2K. convertible, much more appealing, rwd, it's just a much much more exciting car for less money.

I daily drove my S2000 for a year before I totalled it. Its a blast to drive but cant keep up with any of the competition out there nowadays. You have to rev the crap out of it (6000) to get going anywhere. My fit feels faster in a daily driving situation assuming you shift at 4k in the S2000.

But like others said the S2000 is losing resale value quick. Youll just be dumping money away on maintenance and gas. At least pay off the fit and have a couple grand tucked away before anything.

I don't see whats the reason why in owning two cars. You'll end up driving the other one more and letting the other collect dust.

I'd would just stick with the Fit and pay it off.

for me, forget "B."

the Fit is fun to own because it's cheap. that's really wat it comes
down to. big band for the buck.

if you're going to put much money into it, just get a car that suites
your needs from the getgo.

so, if i were you, i would payoff that debt as soon as possible and
keep your car. save up a few years and get your next car but
keep your fit as your dd.

With the price of the car going down the price of parts will eventually fall as well. Maintenance is not much more on an S2K than most cars. Our dealership charges the same amount for an S2K oil change, balance, etc. I think alignments are the only thing that cost a little bit more. I mentioned S2K because it's another Honda, there is plenty of aftermarket parts out there to help make it a bit quicker for the same price of a Si.

I own two cars....my Trans Am isn't collecting dust. I had a 95 Civic that I was using for a DD but damned if i didn't throw a turbo on there lol, but the Trans Am has been my secondary form of transportation for the better part of the last year. It's my "leisure" car, I take it out on the weekends, car shows, etc. It's nice having the option of a RWD, 400whp, torquemonster when I want it.

I

I say trade in for the SI. Don't mess with the Fit you have especially if it's an automatic. Sounds like you want something faster and manual. SI can be a daily driver, it's not that harsh.

Cobalt SS is around the same price range, 260hp, 200+lb ft. of torque, fastest factory FWD car around the Nurburgring, gets good mpgs, etc. But like the Si I don't think you'll be satisfied.

In the end you need to do what makes yourself happy, you shouldn't care what other people think or what their opinions are. Like I did, I'm getting a ton of shit from my friends for buying a Fit, but I'm happy with it, I like it, and I'm not putting wear and tear on my muscle car, so whatever f-them...

i feel ya on how lackluster the performance is in the Fit Auto...i'm currently driving a 07 Storm Silver Fit Auto. i love its style and how it handles...but the car has virtually NO pick-up and getting it going is a chore, especially when trying to mirge into traffic on the highway. i've decided to live with what i've done so far which isn't much...a Mugen Drop-in and removed muffler, and later on im gonna put some 15in. RPF1s (VERY light rims) and add a Blitz Throttle Controller, basic mods that are easy to remove and easy to return to stock and the rims can be transferred to my next vehicle. if "money aint no thing" then i would say mod the hell out of your Fit...but if money is something you can't throw around i'd say just leave the Fit AS IS or just do the most basic of mods...things that are cost/performance effective because its easy to plunk down WAY too much cash on the Fit for sub-par results. if $21k is your price range...HOLY CRAP...LOOK AROUND definately because you can get some hella kick-ass used cars for $21 G's. i'd start looking at used S2Ks, 350Zs, WRX Impreza's, RX8s, Lancer EVOs...you've ALOT of choices for that price range...cars that you would "more than likely" enjoy more than a SI. just my 2 cents.
