Fit Options...?

Does anyone know if there will be a 4wd option in USA? How about if USA will offer it in pink?

what's everyone's opinion on how it holds up the the Toyta Matrix 4WD?

thanks!

Not to sound negative

but... Pink?
I don't think any automobile manufacturer
on this green earth (or this physical dimension) offering pink
as a color choice at their dealerships. It's hard enough to
sell yellow cars in the United States.

If you have your heart set on pink
You'll have to go to a very custom body shop
which won't be cheap (for a great paint job).
(A friend wanting metallic red paid almost $3000 for
a gorgeous coat).

or, for a cheap job, invest in many cans of spray paint
or pray for a strange partial stroke in your visual cortex
that will give you a strange pink color blindness (joking) .

or purple! if i have to settle for the orange i would. my "bright desires" started years ago when i got into 3 accidents that totaled 2 different cars...AND NONE OF THE ACCIDENTS WAS MY FAULT!

So from then on i resolved to try to drive bright cars that people can't help but notice! so far , it's worked...when i've had odd color cars, i dont have people hitting me! I LIKE THAT!

and the Fit have had 2 different pinks as options in other countries: a "thick" bright pink, and a paler pearly pink....

so here's hoping!

wow! Pink

Now that's something I'd like to see.
Just to drive by a dealership and see a brand new pink car.
Was it a metallic pink or something more milky like white?

I hope I didn't come off as nasty
I was just joking but, really, I don't think I've ever seen an
"off the lot" new car that was pink. The wildest stock colors
I've seen was in those cars called 'Rios' I don't know who
made them (I think they were from Korea).

Personally the only commercial pink things I've seen have
been at Victoria secrets and Sanrio suprise stores.

Regardless, the fit is going to be awesome.

Sorry you got such rude remarks from the last poster. I didn't see you putting them in the same "class", you were just asking how they compare, right? You can compare any car to any other car.

Personally, I don't know much about cars, but I don't actually think that there's that much of a gap between the Matrix and the Fit. On the 4WD note, I don't know much about mechanical details of 4WD so I can't speak on whether it would differ in its effectiveness from one car to the other. What I can tell you is that I've been in both of them. I can't comment on the actual ride of the car, as I haven't actually driven the Matrix, but the space inside the car doesn't differ that much from what I can remember of being in the Fit.

We were looking at the Matrix if our car died before the Fit came out. Here are the reasons we're going for the Fit:

Price- Even though pricing hasn't come out, the Fit is a much better deal than the Matrix, which leads me to my next point-

Features- The Fit has a lot more standard safety and other features that will run you up a couple thousand bucks more on the already more expensive Matrix. Yay for Honda for making all of those air bags standard. This makes me feel safer driving a smaller car.

MPG- Yes, we were hoping that the Fit would get better gas mileage than they've now been advertising, but it's better than the Matrix.

One random little thing I liked about the Matrix is that the back of the rear seats that fold down for storage are plastic coated, highly durable if you're toting stuff on top of it. Though, I think this is an upgraded model that I saw.

So there you have it. I hope I helped a bit.

sr20jet, I don't know if you've been in a Fit yet, but I think you will be surprised at the interior space it has to offer versus its overall length.

Thank you for answering the question fiticeland!

And I may have lost it in the shuffle above but incase it wasnt answered, the Fit will not be offered in 4WD. This may change with the Full Model Change in a couple years, but I personally doubt it.

If you really want to compare the Fit, be real and compare it to the Xa, Versa and Yaris, which are the Fit's main competitors in the same class.
Actually, the only cars I’m considering buying are the Matrix and the Fit.

Both are hatchbacks/wagons. Both come highly recommended. Both are within my price range (notwithstanding the Matrix is second hand).

The choice at the subcompact level is, at this point, pretty poor so I think it's natural to consider cars outside the Fit’s class.

Comparing the Fit to sedans like the Corolla and Civic - now THAT doesn't make sense!

The only things that I don’t like about the Matrix:

1) it may have more room than I need (the boot is huge!)
2) it has higher gas mileage

The things I like about it:

1) it has tons of leg room for my 6’5” friends (and me – I’m 6’3”)
2) it resolves uncertainty as to whether the Fit is large enough to meet my future needs, as I expect to keep the car for 10 years and may have a family and all the related paraphernalia to carry around (right now I don’t)
3) the options available (from what I understand even cruise control is available on the base version)
4) ABS is optional – I’ve heard mixed reports on whether ABS is a good thing

Things that I find equally appealing in both:

1) the headroom
2) the cargo space
3) the reliability
4) the price

Things I’m worried about: the ride. I’ve heard the ride in the Fit is very firm to the point of being uncomfortable.

Talking about cargo space, I took my Dad to see the Fit last night at the Montreal Auto Show and he insisted that the car didn’t have room to carry a spare. We lifted up the cargo floor cover and – bingo – there it was!

Wow you got to see inside - I'm jealous - in detroit the doors were all locked tight. Did it have that nice "new Honda" smell still?????

Question

When you guys say "4WD" option...are you talking about going off-roading in a Fit???????

I can understand AWD (All Wheel Drive) but I can't see why anyone would want 4WD on this car.

Is there something I'm missing here, or is this a case of semantics??

Everyone, I have PM'd sr20jet and worked out the situation. So it would be appreciated if the argument could be dropped. Thanks

I thought AWD and 4WD were one in the same except Subaru uses the term AWD and everyone else 4WD. In fact in Australia we call all SUVs (we don't use that term) 4 wheel drives even if they are only 2 wheel drive (hows that for confusing).

Montreal is a wonderful city... and we seem to be advantaged in many ways. Why we are allowed access to the car and you weren't is a real mystery.

That new Honda smell was gone - or overwhelmed by all the wintercoated bodies sitting in it

I looked at the skirts and they looked a little scratched up, so I wonder if the car has been used to certify the gas mileage. It definitely was a Canadian car – it has a kilometre dash.

Thanks muchly for all your posts, Joniedee. It's been a pleasure to read them and I've learned a lot! (Cute doggy, too!)

Haha, no. I don't need a 4WD vehicle, but I do live in a very snowy area, so I don't see a downside to it, seeing as we're a one-vehicle family, and the Fit will be our only car.
