I have a set of the Spikes Spiders for my Saturn L300. I've only used them a few times, but they work great!

Cable Chain Size

Looking for some advice concerning cable chain size for 185 55R16 for my 2009 Fit Sport. I am able to find one exact tire chain for that tire size, but they are pretty expensive. For the regulary inexpensive cables, the closest fit is 185 60R16. Will those cables fit my tires? Purchasing snow tires is not an option for this trip. Any suggestions?

That's great info; however, it's not the info I'm asking for. Thanks though.

I'm not an expert on car "tire chains" (which tend not to actually be chains) so I can't comment on that exact question, but if it were real chains, which is what I do have experience with, they don't stretch and they don't shrink, so, no. And given that the "snow chain" makers get so specific when it comes to size I'm willing to go ahead and make a generalization that no, you can't put the wrong size "snow chains" on your car and expect them to work.

All of that having been said: A 60 series tire is going to be a higher profile than 55 series tire. If you can get them on, and they fit very very snugly, then you might chance it. If they're loose, don't even think about it.

Snow chain

Snow chains can be utilized in extreme road conditions, where the snow or ice might make the tires on a car slide. One of the benefits of using snow chains is that they reduce tire wear by preventing them from overheating.
Snow chains are often installed on all four tires for additional traction. We recommend installation at home, not when stuck at an airport or gas station delayed due to inclement weather, because accommodating four sets of snow chains is easier than waiting for roadside assistance to come out and install them with rather aggravating results.

Snow chains or slip on traction devices are required to be in the car in states like here in WA for mountain traveling. Huge ticket if you don't have them.
