Is this cool or just stupid?

And I really do want your opinions. Good or bad.

I have the base white A/T 09 FIT. Even though it's white and more visible at night than dark cars, I still want to put reflective tape on it somewhere.

My old car I was able to do this easily, by "hiding" the reflective tape inside the door ding strip on the side of the car and along a certain raised area on the bumper.

I don't have the door ding strip for the FIT yet (also, what are your opinions on that?), but that strip has no place to "hide" the tape. Neither does the bumper, not in the same way anyway.

So I found a site that has the refective tape that also carries reflective decals that are meant generally for motorcycles. Scroll down here to the hibiscus flowers (I'm a woman, I like the flowers).
Female Biker Decals and reflective stickers for ladies and lady bikers

I'd get the pre-cut (I'm not cutting that thing out myself!). I'd put the two smallest ones, one on each side, probably on the little window near the back.

the medium and large, one on front, one on back, somewhere on the windows, as long as they don't get in the way of seeing out, or of the wipers.

The first thing I thought of was doing the white that shines white. Because I have a white car. And they would show up well in daytime too against the windows and trim.

I also looked at maybe getting the Super Black. It wouldn't really be visible at all against the windows during the day, and at night would light up white reflective.

I've been rear-ended a few times and ever since then, I am very concerned about vehicle visibility at night. So it's a safety thing for me, that I would like to have look slightly attractive. But not too dorky and stupid.

I know I have seen people with hibiscus stickers on their windows, no idea where they come from, or if they mean anything. but the ones I have seen do not reflect.

So, what about it? Black flowers that don't show up during the day and shine bright white at night? White flowers? NO flowers because it would be very dumb?

Remember, I'm a gal, so I can stick flowers on my car!

What about going with a pin stripe that is reflective? Maybe in a gray or silver color?

Just another idea. I think making your car more visible is a good idea, that's one of several reasons why I also chose white for my Fit.

having reflective material in the front / back is not that useful. If anything it might even serve as a distractioin causing target fixation. If they can't see your headlights / tail-lights (provided that they are working properly) then they must be blind. You can consider adding reflective strips on your wheel. That will for sure enhance your visibility from the side view (and some might say these strips will accent your wheels quite nicely too).

do check out tapeworks.com they have some graphic kits / decals in reflective material

i agree with the idea of a pinstripe.... subtle yet effective, and wont make your car look like poop....

That looks good. And I just have the wheel covers, so I bet that would work quite nicely without it being super visible by day.

yea get it in silver and just install them on the outer edge of your wheel cover. Just make sure you clean the surface really well. they come pre-curved so it should be really easy to put them on.

I don't know if those reflective stickers would look very good on your car and pin stripping just comes off after a short time. I have a 2007 Honda Fit and purchased a chrome piece from Zeta which is pretty reflective when someone is coming up from behind. It is in my picture below. You could go for the static strips that attach to the back of the car they have a reflective piece on them plus they keep you from getting shocked when you exit the car.

That's kind of the look I had before, this is similar to the car I had, the white one:
Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That strip on the side went from front to back, and had a silver strip between the top and bottom black parts. That's where I put the reflective tape (in white) on it. And for the front/rear bumper, it had that black portion with white above and below, and above and below the black is where I put the reflective tape.

I also had some below the doors. So the car pretty much lit up from end to end at night, and side to side. But during the day, it wasn't visible.

I did take into account the "don't want to be distracting" thought too as already mentioned in this thread. No, I certainly don't want my car to be a target. LOL! But I thought the flowers would be more like whatever is seen on the road now.

And if they are on windows, they won't lead to potential corrosion. The same reason I thought about putting a stripe on the side door ding things, instead of on the paint itself.

If the door ding additions are put on via the dealership, who should know what they're doing, if there end up being any problems with moisture getting under that strip, I will at least have someone to go back to.

To tell Honda their adhesive rusted out my car. LOL!

I am really liking that wheel idea for the wheel covers. That might work in addition to the adding some tape to the door ding pieces.

Anyone have any photos of a FIT with pinstriping? Front to back? Have you seen any you remember on the forums here?

Thanks Panda! I'm having fun on the Tapeworks site. I'm totally cracking up over the thought of putting pink flames on the front! I won't do that though, I promise.

They have the rim ones in many colors too. Yes, silver, white, or black would all be good.

Just get sidemarkers (clear or amber, your choice). Then there will be something reflective on the side of your car

What, the peel and stick kinds?

Hey, that's a great idea. I'll have the only polka dot fit covered with peel and stick reflective dots.

It'll look just like the diamond-encrusted Hot Wheels car shown here:
$140,000 diamond encrusted Hot Wheels car can be yours if you have the money | Auto Moto Gadgets

Adding in a few other ideas, a couple of crystal covered Mercedes...

See image 2 here:

Or just look at this other completely covered version:

If I start gluing now, how long do you think it would take to cover the FIT? haha!

suer mario is talking about the jdm fit sidemakers that are mounted on your fenders right below your side mirrors and flash with your turn signals.

OHHHH! I see. I noticed those on cars in the photo areas last night on this site. I guess we didn't get those stock?

And why aren't the lights on the side mirrors available in the U.S.? Those are really REALLY helpful. As far as being able to tell when another car next to you is trying to get over. Much higher up, better visibility. I like those a lot!

not sure if you have noticed this but it will hit you very soon..... the JDM fit is way better than the USDM fit. nobody knows why but that is just the name of the game. you can buy the jdm mirrors and put them on your fit however they will cost you a pretty nickel.

White may be easier to see except yellow but anything that improves being seen by cell-phone yakkers is a gift.
We use reflective striping on the sides. front. and rear to highlight our vehicles. Gold on white looks good on all our white vehicles.
Obtain at www.streetglo.info. Comes ion 3, 6, and 12 mm stripes. Redis too common so you can also look at blue, green, and others.
There are many sources on the net. Just make sure they are reflective. 3M used to make a bunch but apparently dropped out.
Our gold reflective striping on a blue Fit loks good and has shown no wear after a year. Same stuff on a 2003 white truck ditto after 5 years. The secret is cleaning the surface before applying. If we get our photo genius in here we'll photo at nite in reflection.

I think that's a decent idea. But then again I don't. I like the pitch black, blend in with the night look...

Would love to see the photos. I had the reflective tape on that VW of mine and it lasted 17 years. I read the instructions. I put the tape on. I put a bit of clear nail polish at the ends as it suggested. Not one piece ever lifted.

I had leftover, so I put a strip on the door where the latch is...so if I started to open the door, there would be a reflective vertical stripe to alert (hopefully) anyone coming from behind.

So did I. I got rear ended in the black Corvette, TWICE. Once at night. Once during the day. And was less than thrilled to be heading off to work one day only to find the rear panel gashed and the left rear wheel/axle BENT from being plowed into in the dark.

I'd have a helicopter escort shining light down on my white FIT now, if I could afford it.

Lastly, spend some time in a neck brace and in pain after being rear ended, and your love of black cars will be limited to loving OTHER people's black cars and never owning one yourself again!

I crashed into a tree in my 93 accord when I was 17 at 60mph with no seatbelt. I wore a spinal straightener brace for 3 months. I drove again. I would never have blamed an accident on the color of my car though, even if it was someone else's fault ;/ black is my favorite color
