Last night I got pulled over for speeding (Yeah I'm Stupid) and not only that the cop gave me a verbal on my Mugen window visors saying it's equated with window tint and thus considered illegal. He also pointed out my exhaust (Tanabe Medallion Concept G) as well including it in the verabal warning. My question to all of you that have window visors and such here in the golden state, have you been cited for these as well?

visors are NOT tints.... that was serious douchebaggery unless there is an anti visor law(which i highly doubt) then that was out of line. with the exhaust, providing you keep it under the legal decible for your area, and it your car will pass emissions with it on there is jack any one can do, now since your in cali it probably does not pass emissions since you guys have anal laws out there, so there you were lucky he ddnt give you a "fix it" ticket..... and the moral of the story as i'm sure you are aware is DONT SPEED! and if u do invest in a good radar detector!
Yeah I just picked mine up from the dealership last night. The new 09 ones that slope outward at the bottom. I don't think they would sell them if I couldn't install them here.
Ive never heard of anyone getting busted or even warned about visors. Just sounds like the cop was being an ass.
yeah the judge probably would have called the cop a dumbass for wasting his time. Sounds like you got a cranky cop that just didnt have his coffee and donuts that day.
Thanks guys for your input, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and was caught in Gilroy. I figured the visor thing was a load of crap but about my exhaust, should I just bite the bullet and invest in the tanabe medallion touring?
real quick
here in utah you can have either tint on the front windows OR window visors on the front windows, but both is illegal here, as for ALL the windows behind the driver you can have limo tint and visors if you want -- i believe there is a warning in the accessories catalog, warning to check local laws before installation of any honda accessories

If it was a Gilroy cop you should have started talking about garlic.

Vehicle Code is online:

I'm not seeing anything there that states anything about vent visors specifically, as being allowed or disallowed. But if it falls under the "obstruction of visibility" then it would be a violation.
I'd probably head to the local DMV as well as stopping by the local CHP office to ask their opinions. If it's illegal, we need to know. For sure.
I've got some calls to make today, so maybe I can call around a bit too. I don't have it on my car to show anyone though.
