Weird ABS/ downshift Glitch....

ok so yesterday when driving in extreamly slick conditions i noticed a weird glitch in the car. as i was slowing down i down shifted and engine breaked as much as possible so as not to skid, however those last few MPH i used the breaks and occasionally ABS went off. heres where the weird thing happened as i was coming to rest at a light with the clutch depressed i put the car in 1st and instead of sliding right in, is kind of ground and wouldn't go into gear... i'm kind of baffled by this, why would the ABS cause 1st to grind with the clutch depressed?, this only happens when the ABS goes off. any ideas would be appreciate it's a 2008 sport MT

easy fix, just leave in 2nd until completely stopped then put in first

if you try to put in 1st when abs is still pumping the speed of the countershaft will not be constant, rather stuttery, and in any effort you put into engaging 1st the cogs will try to push the hub back out.

Happens with any synchronized transmission. It's just amplified in first because its speed difference between the gear and the hub on the mainshaft is the greatest.
