Crashed

The totalled fit club may have a new inductee soon...

It doesn't look so bad in these pics. I'm thinking there may be some frame damage though.

I should have taken pics

Basically I was at a red light (I had stopped JUST short of the intersection). I was waiting for the light. I was adjusting my seating position when my foot slipped off the clutch (it was all wet from the ice and stuff) and I jumped a little forward and got clipped in the front left side. I'm praying for no frame damage.

Noticeable damage:
Hood
L Headlight
Front Bumper
L Fender
Possible suspension damage (wheel looked a bit cock-eyed)
Headliner/Seat (from side airbags deploying)

I'm ok but my neck is a bit sore. Also the left side of my face hurts from the side-curtain airbags punching me in the cheek, and I have an are of "raised, uneven skin" (according to my gf) from where the side airbag reached around the seat and slapped me in the back of my arm.

A few things that could have helped avoid this situation:
-Awareness!
-Floor mats so my shoes wouldn't be so slippery
-Mugen pedals so my slippery feet wouldn't slip off so easily.

I'll take pics when I get a chance. I'm taking the day off tomorrow and possibly on friday. At this point, I am looking online for used GD's...

nooo! damn, that sounds crazy. Glad to hear no major damage(to you). And I didnt know side airbags where that crazy. One time i got into my car to go somewhere, and i forgot i left the car in gear over night. Than when i turned it on, my car almost jumped through the garage door. lol.

man sorry to hear that man *sigh*... been there and have done that... hmm i have to say... let them take your car so they can pay it all off for you so no more payments for you... then jsut get another fit =)

well this was my story... got into a accident... and my motor mount broke so my insurance (farmers) said that its gonna be a total loss cuss it messed up the motor... (which i didnt it was just my motor mount) so they gave me 15g for the car... to pay off the car but i wanted the car back so they too okay 2g so i then only have 13g then i was happy that i was gonna get to keep that 13g but it didnt work that way.. i had to pay off the loan so that 13 grand went stright for the car payments... then i took a loan from my bank and pay for the damages... (both passenger doors... right suspension and motor mount)... now i still have to owe 2700 for my car since i bought it back... so it also really depends what company insurance you have but most of the time when you have full coverage they will pay it off for you... so i think is better off if you let them pay it off for you and jsut get another one if your not like me =P LOL

so i hope that help you out a bit =P plus its better if you let them pay it off for you cuss your credit goes stright up for making the payments =D the reason why i wanted my car back was cuss it was my first actual car and i will never leave it =P it was still stock at that time too so i made a promise to my car that i will make it look nice and love it even more and i did =)

but yah i mighta repeated myself a couple times but let them take the car and let them pay it off for you... get a new Fit =P and go from there... you can also get a Sport this time if you wanted to =) its kinda like starting all over and learning from your old fit what you could have done if its a Sports =P

ill be checking this thread alot more so ask questions if you have any... and yes my car is salvage but i know what happened to it and theres no frame damages or anything wrong with it you know how insurance companies are i hate them! yet they did pay off my fit =P lol but let me know if you have any questions and ill see if i can help out =)

oh and please buy this fit if your looking for one!!!!

so lets say i totalled my fit. Would they let you take the mods off of it before the insurance company pays you for it? And if the car hasnt been paid for yet, would they only give you back what you have already paid of the car? because you said the insurance pays the car off for you, but if you were to buy another fit, would you be taking another loan? since you only paid a partial amount on the car?

hmm yes if you do totalled your fit they will pay for the whole car... well depends how much its worth now...(mileage comes in play the most) and about the mods im pretty sure they will let you take it off but on that im not too sure so i cant really answer that question... well i bought my car for 19g (yes i know thats alot but i didnt care cuss i love my fit =P) so i had the car not even for a year yet (not too sure how man miles i have maybe 10k cuss i drive alot my fit goes wherever i go) and i got into that darn accident so i paid like 4800 for my car soo far... so thats 4800 off of the 19g... so thats makes it 15g then thats when they come in play to pay off the rest of the car.... OH AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GAP INSURANCE cuss if your insurance dont pay the whole entire off (its possible) then you have to pay for the rest if you dont have GAP insurance... so after my accident my insurance paid me 15g for the car but since i bought it back they took out 3700... so that makes my car worth about 3700 that i still have to pay for... then i took out my instended/all my warranties and i got 1g back.... then my GAP paid like not much for it since i bought it back.. so i still owe honda like 2g so my insurance didnt really pay the whole car off but most or about most of it....... so pretend you got the whole thing taken care of your first car...... then if you get another car then its like you starting all over again from the beginning but with better credit since your old cars paid off... so it really depends on you what you want to do... keep the car and pay off the rest or let them take your precious fit and start all over...

i hope i answer your question... let me know if you have more =)

hmm. So what your saying is you paid 4800 on the car and the insurance company will deduct the amount you paid from the total cost of the car, than give you whats left(15g)? Thats the part I dont understand. Because if the 15k was a loan why would the insurance give it to you? Or i mean, if they did give you the 15k, wouldnt you have to pay off the loan with that money? It doesnt make much sense to me if they paid off the rest of the car (15k) than gave you another 15k. Or am i missing something here?

lol yeah you are missing something there... lol before i got into the accident i paid 4g soo far for my car... so i still owe like 15g something left so they gave me a 15g check to pay for the car... i thought i could keep it but i have to give it to the loan i got my car from.. SO NO I DIDNT GET ANY MONEY AT ALL BACK... so basically your car that you got into a car accident with is paid off meaning no more payments... then you can jsut go buy another car with your NEW CREDIT you now have for paying off the totalled car... so basically youre starting all over again with better credit... get me? =P

EDIT: the reason why i still owe the bank was cuss i bought the car back for 3700 so thats all i still owe my bank... but if i didnt buy my car back... my credit will go up and i can jsut start all over.... get it?
