Whats with the GE8 hate?
It's certainly true on the STi board I frequent (and moderate); the new generation hatches are truly despised by some, and they look for opportunities to tell people. It got so bad that several have gotten themselves tossed off the forum for it. It's much, much lighter here! Take heart in that; Fit owners in general seem to be much more easy going than other enthusiast groups I have been around.
I enjoy this thread. As a seven year owner of a 2002 Honda S2000, now my beloved Garage Queen, I have been witness on s2ki.com, to a similar barrage of opinions on the AP1 vs. AP2 versions.
In a nutshell, the AP1 (2003 and earlier) has the 2.0 liter, 237 hp engine which produces 237 hp at 8300 rpm, and has a 9000 rpm redline. The later AP2 model lengthens the engine's stroke to obtain 2.2 liters, and the same 237 hp with greater torque at lower rpm. Ah,but the redline is reduced to only 8200 rpm. AP1 purists love their cars, and disdain the measly 8200 rpm ninny of an AP2 engine. AP2 lovers appreciate that their engines are somewhat more flexible and drivable under everyday conditions.
In the words of a great but nameless philosopher: "Opinions are like a##holes; everybody has one."

I'm not a subie owner but I also dislike the new subarus as well. My friend with a previous gen STI cannot stand the new ones. I used to be a nissan guy, and i always thought honda guys were assholes. But now i realize most honda guys ARE assholes, but not Fit people

I just posted why I like the GD better than the GE, but I put it in the GD section of the forum. I would never search the GE section with the intention to bad mouth someone’s car. And I wouldn’t tell someone they bought the wrong Fit any more than I would tell someone they put the wrong rims on their car; it’s a matter of preference. If you like the GD more or less or equal to the GE that’s solely your opinion. Overall, I'm disappointed with the direction Honda went with the Fit. I had planned to get the GE for the wife, but the style just hasn't grown on me.
I’ll tell you what, when I see a GE on the road I still wave and smile because a Fit is a Fit. And I think no matter what Fit you’re in and no matter what mods you’ve done to it, everyone can agree that there’s a certain joy you feel behind the wheel of a Fit that you can’t get in any other car.

many Evo VIII/IX drivers still look down to X's, especially the Evo X MR
Actually me and my sister both own fits. I have the GE and my sister has the GD. I like both of the cars... The styling grew on me with the new fit and no matter wat, its still a fit.. I just can't wait for all the mods to come out for the GE though!!
Hey, ALL Hondas are damn fine cars, except the ones that are damn fine trucks.
The differences are relatively minor in the big scheme of things. In a few years, there will be a next-generation Fit, and we will all have to get used to it, too. At first, it will look weird and wrong to the GE8 owners, just like the GE8 currently does to GD3 owners. As long as it maintains its funky appeal, it will sell. And the people who buy them will love them. You or I could be one of those people. Change happens.
As far as the hating goes, yeah, that's just stoopit. It's the anonymity of the Internet rearing its ugly head. I think that's why they make so many different cars, isn't it? Everybody gets to choose what suits them. Honda or Toyota, car or truck, auto or manual, red or white. You choose what suits you, and unless someone else wants to make the payments, it isn't any of their flippin' bidnih.

if you read all the threads/posts carefully, you will see a couple of guys who can not tolerate a single nice word about the GE8.
It is to the extent of downright thuggery, but they get away with it because they have been here a long time and have a lot of posts
But if you look these guys have heavily modded GD3's and with having to bully their way to superiority to this degree, the bashing has to be rooted in insecurity that their standing is diminished with a newer model.
What I learned is do not waste your time with such nonsense.
I put 2 guys on my ignore list (makes bad guys simply disappear LOL), you might consider doing that too.
Why waste a second of your time reading posts from people who have zero concept of respect and thoughtful intelligent posting??????????

Ive noticed GD3 owners around here cant stand the GE8's for whatever reason they can find. Whats with all the hate amongst fellow Fit owners? Why not appreciate what both models have, have your likes and dislikes, and leave it at that. Why go around on every GE thread posting about why the GD is so much better ...?
.... that is absolutely NO excuse for the way some people have ragged on the ge.
the ge is a great car. the haters hate because they have nothing better to do. seriously. some people LOVE to do it. i think its sad, but whatever floats thier boat. just hit the ignore button.

For example:
I drive an AT Fit. Some manual guys here seem to think that's somehow their business. I've had lots of manual transmissions in my lifetime, and knew what I was doing when I bought the automatic. I'm a grown man. Since I am secure with my choice, it isn't making me feel bad when MT Nazis hate on AT cars, and I don't really need to put them on "ignore". If they want to look like children or idiots by posting ignorant rants, what do I care? I don't give others the power to dictate my automotive identity. I can screw up my reputation all by myself.
