Talking Please help me 5-speed Fit owners/clutch question.

I test drove a used 2008 Fit Sport manual yesterday. It had 40,000 miles on it. The car is in mint condition and I can get it for a steal, but during the drive the clutch bothered me. I have read that the Fit has a feather light clutch and this one did. That's fine with me. It felt and shifted great. It engaged in a small area at the top of the pedal movement. But while not moving, I tried to push the clutch all the way in and it went to the floor. Is this a warning sign? Can you push yours to the floor when not moving? I thought that was a bad thing.

Please keep in mind that I am replacing a 1999 CRV with 168,000+ miles with a bad clutch and transmission so I haven't driven a on a good clutch for around 50,000 miles when my CRV started to get spongy.

Thank you
Honda Forever!

Yeah, it's only bad if you push the brake pedal and it goes all the way to the floor. lol.

The clutch going to the floor will moving or not is normal, I think it's normal for every car, at least it was normal for every car I ever had.

1. Push the clutch to the floor
2. Push the gas pedal to the floor
3. Shift into 1st gear
4. Release the clutch pedal

Hope you get the fit

How much is a steal???? Just want to make sure you are doing good.

Like others have said, clutch all the way down is good

But you say it engages at the very TOP of pedal travel?

Storm Silver 2008 Fit Sport with 40,000 for $12,650. Mint interior. It only had two problems - the clutch question, which I chalk up to not having a comparison and a small crack on one of the fog lights from a rock chip. Haven't had a drive in a car that fun since I had my 1991 Honda CRX. It was a lease car, clean carfax with one owner.

Seems like a good deal to me, going to the bank in the morning.

Thanks to all of you for helping me out!
