synthetic/regular rotating

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything on it.

Took my other car to a Toyota dealership and I asked the Service Manager about using synthetic oil on my newish vehicle. He said something I hadn't heard before. He recommended not using it until about 75K because once you switch to synthetic you can't go back and before 75K the engine doesn't need it. That seems like a strange answer to me. Is there any validity to it?

I wouldn't mind trying synthetic on my fit but I don't want to do it if I'm forced to for the life of the car. I'd like to be able to rotate between synthetic and regular oil at any time.

Ehhh that is like 20+ year old info.
Early synthetics did swell engine seals. But Jimmy Carter has been out of office for a long time, things change.
Only modern day comment you hear is dont run syn oil til yer engine is broken in (4K mi)

And even that is B.S. (Last statement above). Speaking for Amsoil, you can use that at any time you want without harm to the engine. Considering all of the advantages of synthetic engine oils over any brand of conventional refined crude, there would be no advantage to switching it out to conventional oil, but if you did, there would be no harm other than greater wear and dirt accumulation with the conventional oil.

But don't take my word for it- do your research on the web sites of Amsoil, or any other brand of synthetic oil you please. Amsoil was the first to develop synthetic lubricants for automotive applications (40 years ago), and therefor has more experience than any other synthetic oil maker.

To the OP- the Toyota dealer gave you garbage, ignorant, information. Don't go back.
