Tire Clearance Question

Greetings Everyone!...

I'm new here and this is my first post. It seems like everyone here is really happy with their Honda Fit so I thought I'd post a question.

I'm considering the purchase of a Honda Fit. Most likely the Sport trim. Everything about the car seems awesome. (Haven't test driven it yet tho, cuz I'm pretty sure I'll fall in love with it right away and I don't like making impulse buys.)

I would add some sort of bicycle rack to the car. I'd be frequently loading up 2 to 3 mountain bikes, 2 to 4 people, plus all of our riding gear.

My concern is tire clearance under load. It doesn't seem like the Fit has an awful lot of tire clearance.

If anyone could kindly provide feedback about driving the Fit under loads like what I'm talking about, I would greatly appreciate it. Have you experienced the car bottoming out on the tires, or road? Or anything else that might be worth considering?

Thanks very much for your time and for reading. And thanks in advance for comments and feedback.

Best,
LB

I have an '08 but that's never been an issue. The thing lags with 4 people in it, though, FYI.

Hey secondspassed,

Thanks for your reply! Much appreciated!

I appreciate knowing that tire clearance hasn't been an issue for you.

With the horsepower, etc, I was kinda thinking the Fit might be a bit sluggish when loaded with people. Thanks for confirming. I'm not sure how I feel about that one.

I'm a bit of a pedal masher off the line so it might frustrate me if it's too slow. I was thinking that I'll take my fiancee and step-daughter with me when I test-drive and compare how it does with 2, and then with 4 people. I hope it does ok. I really like the Fit so far otherwise.

Best,
LB
