Tire question.

Tire question.
I have an 09 Fit Sport. It is stock with no mods to wheels or suspension. I need to know if I can run 205/55-16 tires without interference. I don't care about speed difference etc. I just want to know if they will work.

Thanks for the replies. Why am I so serious? Didn't think I was, just asked a question. I have read so much on tire size questions and all the off the wall answers to these simple questions that I just wanted a simple answer. Most of the tire size questions related to the 205/50/16 as being the tire to use if keeping the mph etc. as close as possible to stock. I would be open to larger tires than the 205/55/16 If they would fit. I am looking for a little smoother ride and could care less about handling.
Thanks again, Joemac

well 55 series tires will keep the sidewall as thick as it is now. i just ordered some hankooks in 205/50/r16...i'll post em up and some impression once they are mounted and i have some miles logged.

Also to note, if you increase the diameter, and do not go with a lightweight tire (check the specs on them, they vary greatly) then you are creating a lot of rotational mass and unsprung weight. With the wheel/tire combo not wanting to change direction as easily, your suspension will not work as well, and thus you could end up with a less smooth ride due this weight factor alone.
Read reviews on tires to help with the lightweight/comfort decision. It's very noticeable from model to model, regardless of size. My new tires have a more pleasant pitch to them on the road too. They are a little quieter, but more high pitched. I think the ride is more comfy, as I mentioned.

I would go with 205/50-16 as well, or maybe 195/55-16 if you think you may lower it someday. 205/55-16 is HUGE compared to what came on the fits stock. Tire choice will play a much larger factor in ride than tire size.
