Exclamation Might need to unload my Fit - Canada GTA.

Hi there, ordered my FIT. Love the car but just found out that I don't need the second vehicle. I still haven't picked it up from the dealer. Still trying to negotiate the termination of the contract but I am not sure that I will be able to.

Soooo, I have a blue Honda FIT LX with manual tranny and the cargo cover that I might have to sell that is still at the dealer. I am curious if anyone would be interested in purchasing this vehicle... of course at a discounted price.

Also anyone know how to terminate one of these purchase agreements? Or if it is even possible?

Thanks..

Gomer!

Oh boy! When exactly did you figure out that you didn't need a second car out of curiosity? It must have been a last minute decision.

What deposit amount did you put on the vehicle while being ordered?

I'm trying to figure out what a reputable dlrship would do in that case. I don't know if any exist.

In actuality you haven't really signed for full ownership as yet, but an intention to buy a specific vehicle based on certain criteria. A honda in-general should not be hurting a dlrship to resell if one backs out..., can't you see the faces pasted to the glass at the dlrship door scrambling.

I'm thinking that at worst you may be penalized a wee bit on your deposit. If you get off, consider that a good dealrship.

Oh yeah! How was the service in Richmond Hill? I live in the GTA and I'm not gonna get mine in BRAMPTON or MISSISSAUGA. I've planned to spread my wings from Guelph-Oshawa-Orangeville with a broker perhaps.

I had a co-worker who tried to return a car once. After picking it up from the dealer and having driven it for just ONE day.

He said he felt like a king in it on the test drive...but later found it gave him a crick in his neck because he couldn't see out of it properly. A Chrysler Sebring, I think...

Anyway, he was told that they would take it back but had to knock off $5,000 because the car had already been registered in his name. Hope you haven’t registered the car yet!

The Big DOH!

I put a 1K downpayment on that beast. But my out the door price was $21230. with the Cargo Cover for $40 (thats a $260 option) and 6 free oil changes. I am curious if anyone is getting a better price.

Also, dealing with the dealer here was quite pleasant of course until i changed my mind on the car. I won't name the dealership at this time but it was not in RH. The sales manager seems to be a prick and I haven't even met him yet (aren't they all you are all saying) I am getting my lawer involved and the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council to see what can be done. There seems to be a loophole and if it works I will let you know. The guy doesn't even seem to want to keep my deposit. Option 1 and only one. Keep the veichle. Oh well.

First of all, if the deposit is all of your money that he has, then that is all that he can keep. If for some reason the purchase order has verbage that commits you to purchase the car, then he would have to sue you to get the rest of the money. This is extremely bad form for a car dealer. If word got out (and it would if you wanted it to) then he would be facing a large number or potentially irate consumers - some of whom would be considering higher profit vehicles than the Fit.

There is one way it could be worked out. Find somebody to take (buy) your car for you before it leaves the dealers lot. You could offer them a few hundred dollars. There should be plenty of takers. Of course the dealer will tell you how everybody is lining up to buy the vehicle when you are negotiating, and then will tell you how he is having a hard time selling them if you want to pull out of the deal.

Good Luck. If you have a decent lawyer it should turn out fine.

Hi. You're not obligated to buy the car. You could have paid for the car in full, but if you didn't take it off the lot, the deal is not finalized. This is U.S. law, so I dunno where you're from. Worst case scenerio? Have one of your friends put a deep scratch on the car. Then say you won't pay for it or have the time to wait for another one to come in.

He specifically stated he was in Canada, GTA (Greater Toronto Area)

Is there nobody that would want to take it off you?

Pity you're not in the GVRD

Technically he has not taken ownership of it yet!
There is a proposed conditional contract agreement to purchase the vehicle based on certain criteria. It is when the dealership makes you sign all those papers and ownership transferring the full title to one's name is when you are on the hook.

Hence his deposit to assure the intention to buy this specific car; the agreement is still conditional. Conditions not met for whatever reason could be a way out. Like previously said, a dealership has a reputation to protect and the exchange of the item to the customer has not taken place. The deposit should only be the only thing argued.

A dealership bastard may penalize him with frieght or the $1000.00 only for bringing a specific vehicle trucked in. Good luck and keep us informed!
