Honda's add campaign for the Fit

I hope I'm wrong but-

I read that Honda is spending $50 million on the US add campaign for the Fit. They will use the slogan "The Fit is Go". Seems kind of stupid to me, and they mentioned running 5 second adds on TV, that sounds pretty lame to.

I guess we will see soon enough.

I don't like the marketing team. That comercial on the internet where the two samurai jack type cartoons jump at each others is meh. On the fit website, they have screensavers that show cartoon cats fade into the fit, and it says "speedy demon". This stuff is too abstract. They should just aim to make it more regular, or like the scion, make a cool cgi-based comercial.

There are fit ads on various ign sites and they suck. They are basically dragging and droppign cargo types into the fit, and the fit will have a flash animation of how the magic seats can accomidate them.

I could care less about the marketing. I care only about how good the vehicle is.

Don't you want the fit to sel well? i care about marketing only cuz I care about honda. Sure bad marketing means it's easier for us to get the car since it'll be low demand, but I like honda and I hope they sell well (and high numbres means we'll get future models when low numbers mean stopping the fit line in US)

Here in Vancouver, Canada, the Honda guys were getting mobbed at the car show in regards to the Fit. At the very least, the Fit will be a staple in the Canadian market, with or without a major ad campaign

I want the Fit to sell well enough that they keep making them and this segment does well, but not so well that prices are kept high.

Flashy adds will never convince me to get a car, but they might convince me not to get it. In other words if they market towards third graders (and they are not too far off right now), then that is not the car for me.

A well made car that performs well - that is what interests me - some person on the TV telling me that "the Fit is go" will not sway me at all. After all todays hip and youthfull is tomorrows dorky and out of style.

I like Honda do but it's not like this car will make/break Honda. If the Fit sells extremely well, then that means prices will be kept higher for a longer amount of time. Also, if the Fit sells well perhaps Honda will delay the next generation from being sold here for a little bit.

Good Point!

The story reads (in part) - "sources said a $50 million-plus push is planned. Honda spent $735 million advertising in 2005"
