Cool Fit.

Hi all,

I know this may seem like a dumb question to some of you but I really must ask because hey im not sure.

Im interested in getting the fit. Looked at the specs and thought ok this is better than what i have now ..far as options, mileage and safety... (04 kia spectra) and I am looking to buy by the end of the year. However I was looking at the Caliber and that had most of the features that I want, but gets slightly less gas mileage 27/32.

Since the Fits tank is smaller and even though it gets mileage in the 30's would it kind of be safe to assume that i would feel like im getting 27/32 from frequent fillups due to the small gastank? I mean I really like the fit but i happened to stumble upon the caliber and according to forums people who bought them really love it.

Really, im looking for a car with easy on the gas and good on space bla bla bla. Im trying to filter out all of the bad things people are saying about the fit because I think it has alot of potential and hey, its by honda so im comfortable with thier reputation. Dodge I dunno. I agree that honda should not have left the fit site to college students.

Quite frankly i was dissapointed. Its making the car go down in value lol lemme stop. Btw, does anyone know if the fit sport will at least have a sunroof available by early next year? Im weary of cutting a hole in the roof since 95% of the people ive asked and what i have read, say that its not worth it due to leaks. Anyways help me out.

Cool dodge man convert

I have an 02 dakota and thought about getting a caliber ...saw one on the road and I .... hate the rear .... and it looks too much SUV ish. .. even for me a truck owner. .. I would like a magnum though, but I want the gas milage and the feel of the sub compact.... still in love with my ex 92 nissan 240sx i guess ... but the caliber does have lots of nice options. This biggest difference to me was my wife has an 05 civic ex and it rocks!!! and the warranty is much bigger for the honda. I am a die hard dodge fan but I'm going honda!! ...ps if you win the lottery send me some money for a ridgeline!!

Cool

it's a good thing to bring up... sometimes these peeps bash the hell outa the other car people LOL but hey I still kinda am a dodge man. The srt is out this fall i think... but i would so trick the hell out of the fit first! ... they would have to really change the look of the car to be more stream lined for me to buy an srt version.. ps if you want a killer/bad a** suv the dodge nitro is looking awesome!!

I'm also a Dodge fan (thus, "DewaltDakota"), and I did check out the Caliber, in addition to the Fit. While I LOVE the glovebox/cooler thing, it reminds me too much of a shrunk down version of the old tuna boat station wagons.

I've had enough problems with my Dodge trucks over the years (97 Dakota XC, 00 Ram QC 4x4, 03 Dakota, 05 Dakota QC 4x4), and zero problems with the Honda's I've had (92 Civic Si HB, 94 Civic EX Sdn, 01 Civic EX Sdn), that it ended up being a no-brainer for me to say "I'll take the Fit, please."

On the other hand I am thankfull they don't force me to buy a sunroof. A lot of car makers used to tie in sunroofs with ABS (including Honda on the Civic) that always ruled the car out because the sunroof took away too much headroom and I wanted ABS.

I have heard very few bad things said about the Fit, and I thought I've read just about everything. Every review is practically a rave. I'm not sure where your hearing all these bad things.

I looked at the Caliber as well - even got to talk to a high-up at Dodge Canada about it at the Philly auto show. It's got a lot of great features, ones that I wouldn't have expected to sound cool, but were when I saw them. However...the Fit beats the Caliber to 60 by over a second, and the Caliber's got 30+ horsepower on it. Given the Fit's flexibility, fuel economy, and C&D test results, I'd much rather have that over the caliber.

In the words of the great Colin Chapman, "light weight is its own reward."

Yea basically, i just cant stand it when someone says something about a car they haven't even driven. Besides everyone has their own taste. I agree that the Fit is a great choice because seriously, it DOES NOT look like gas prices will EVER go down. every year it will probably increase a dollar. Besides, i will probably trade my fit for the mystery hybrid fit mmmmm.............. ahh wishful thinking. Isnt it wonderful?

the gas mileage of the fit is a major reason i'm buying one. i talked to a manager of a gas station the other day and he told me gas will be $3/g by the end of the month, and $3.75/g by the end of summer (i live on the gulf coast). it's outrageous. so basically any car that has a sticker on it that says it gets between 30-40mpg is great with me no matter what the tank size.

No doubt the fit does well on gas - kinda frustrating though that it could have been better.

Still looking forward to more real world driving mpg - we shall see.

Yeah, gas mileage could have been better - but at what cost? Personally, I'll sacrifice a few mpg to not get squished by the asshole in the big rig on the freeway.
