HP for gas mileage?

Just curious if you guys would rather have, lets say the 06+ civic lx/ex engine in your fit and sacrifice 10 mpg, would you?

I'd sacrifice MPG for HP by way of turbo charger, but not for that engine.

Methinks you need to add another choice to your poll:
  • Yes
  • No
  • WTF are you talking about?
When I bought my '08 Fit the '08 Civic got better MPG, not worse, than the Fit. I suspect that powertrain in a Fit would result in little or no MPG difference.

No. The point of the Fit is being a light, nimble, fast cornering city runner that gets awesome mpg. I buy a different car for hp.

Should have bought a WRX

Wouldn't run that engine, wouldn't sacrifice that much MPG!

The civic engine is what, 160hp?

That boost from the 117 would be a big dif. and gas mileage shouldnt go down much, it pulls the bigger, heavier civic and gets 30-35...

Hell no. The biggest reason I bought a Fit was for the MPG. Why would I want to swap the engine out and loose MPGs for the sake of getting more HP? If HP was important, I would have bought a different car.

Talking

If'n I wanted more HP, I'd buy a Stingray.

The fun factor AND mpg is what I purchased the Fit for, not to mention longevity. (HEY, I said not to mention longevity! )

It just, uh, all fits together.

My wife's 08 civic gets about the same mpg as my fit but it is a much more aerodynamic vehicle!

But still with that said, I wouldn't have minded if the GE8 engine had been bumped to 1.6-1.8 liter even though mileage would suffer a little

I'd rather install an 2004 HX 1700cc engine rated at 40 mpg and gain 10 mpg as well as increased performance. As soon as the warranty runs out ...

That's what makes the US version of the Smart Car not practical. The most important check (for me) is MPG. Others' opinions are valid. An underpowered car is less safe than one with HP to spare.

i think that even though the car is for purely mph i believe that the car has a good potential. i mean its nothing like my 91 nsx but i want to run with the cobalts and the other b.s. cars out there. now after doin research i found that the aveo has a 1.6 engine and still pulls the same mpg. also the nissan pumps out 122 HP with the 1.6. the yaris.... well its toyota. no more needs to be said about them. just a lil bit more punch would be nice out of it. plain and simple i just want somethin to mess around with that isnt too expensive.
i wanna be able to run with the old civic si hatchback's
