i wanna be able to run with the old civic si hatchback's

The Fit has little chance thanks to its boxy shape without severe damage to mpg; and it already does the Aveo in easuily. (I rented one on a trip).
Its a good daily driver. Cornering and driving can be improved but not power without penalty. So its cheaper to buy a hotter model Civic to begin with.

The fuel mileage was one of the major reasons I bought the car, so that's a resounding NO.

I've had cars with power. I also know the meaning of 8 mpg. Premium. Leaded.

I want the MPG, I want the convenience of using Regular gas.

I looked for the best price on the best mpg with the least pollution with the best reliability/dependability kind of car. And it had to be a relatively small car, because it's a PAIN IN THE BUTT to park, even in marked parking spots when the vehicles have gotten larger but the parking spaces haven't.

That's it! The better the mpg, the more money you have to do other things. It doesn't even matter what the cost of gas is, for that to be true. Can save enough to buy your lunch, driving a FIT instead of a gas hog, if you're going to school or work.

If you go on a trip, that gas savings adds up. You can do more things when you get where you're going.

It's the main reason why I still want Honda to make ultra-economy cars like they used to. It doesn't matter if gas is a dollar or ten dollars per gallon, because we still have to use it, and it still costs money.

An awesome two-seater hybrid like the old Insight, but that looks more like the FIT, with the same seating position and the same kind of hatchback. Make the passenger seat a "magic seat". A sun roof. 80 mpg. Yes, I'd give up even more horsepower to have ultra-economy.

I'd give up 5 MPG for about another 20 horses. And I agree with others in that I wish I had money for a K-Swap. That would be sick.
