I think the most scared I was in the Fit was waiting in line at the local Dairy Queen. Some really big, bald guy in a black Dodge Ram pulled up on the lot and headed towards my car. He walked all the way around my car and my window is down. I am thinking surely he is not going to try anything in broad daylight. He walks up beside my window and smiles and said, "Hey, I really like your car". I have never had anyone say anything negative about the car. I am right in the middle of american muscle car haven and even when I take the car to local shows, those guys have always been really nice to me. I rock a Mugened themed Fit with Japanese symbols. I've never had anyone give me heck about the car being an import or telling me that I should be driving American. I have driven an American car since 1978 and I have to stay never again. I will only own Honda from this point on.

well with an attitude like that it is cat!

step 1. make sure ur alone with no one to see u

step 2. pretend u have a muscle in your chin to flex

step 3. contort your face like a dogs and "push the muscle" outward as if trying to scare little children.

step 4. repeat 3-5 times a day for a week and ull be a badass...

sorry long day at work enjoy ur new goatee cat lmao

im in new jersey. a co-worker once said, "nice roller skates." other than that, no one has had anything negative to say. and nothing has happened on the road.

one thing i have noticed... women will routinely say they love the looks of the car. but ive yet to get one positive comment from a guy.

IMHO.... F%$# them. They won't pay your gas bill when it tops $4 again. About the most resistance I got was from my wife, who wanted me to buy an Insight. I couldn't justify it, though. Plus....I think the Fit looks better.

Granted, I got mine for MPG. I knew the reviews are good, but when you're comparing something to a Yaris or an Aveo, big whoop. How special does it have to be? I have to say, I have been dang surprised. I was telling my parents this AM, they would never know the difference between the Fit and their Accord if they were just driving down the road.

Talking Your Fit

Ask yourself this when some a$$hole says anything about your fit. Do they pay my bills? No!! Then F**k them. I love my fit. It small and purple, but it's mine. I don't care what anyone has to say about it. I had a Pontiac Grandam for the last 5 years and hated to fill the tank every 3 days. Now, with my fit, I fill up once a week if not every two weeks. Love you little car. Everyone else is just jealous.

I'm pretty sure NO ONE is jealous of my Fit. Most if not all feedback I get from "friends" is inferences of perplexity. They know I love sports cars so they're wondering if I like my "econo penalty box". They think it's only good for fuel economy. And it would take me days to explain and show them how amazing the Fit is. So I don't bother.

Everyone LOVES my Fit, especially girls! When I go to bars/clubs/shows on the weekends I always get smiles and compliments whether I'm beside another car at a stoplight or just parked.

With the exclusion of one person: my boss. He drives a Audi R8, Dodge Viper SRT-10, VW EOS 2.0T, 300M (gag), and just got a Chevy Traverse (gag). One time I gave him a ride--he complained that it was loud--I was like "Dude, I made it that way"

He clutched the sissy handle and whimpered for the rest of the ride.

Ha ha, ditto that.

Fortunately I've had only positive responses from others so it hasn't been an issue.

Haha I love it. I went to dinner with my parents the other day and I drove. Otw home I took the corner into our neighborhood at my usual speed and said, "this is where i usually lose my dinner" (take out on the passenger seat goes flying).

Sometimes people can be so incredibly small minded. Sorry to hear your environment isn't very supportive of your car choice. Stand tall and proud...Honda makes an excellant product and the Fit is go!!

i live in NC as well, and i get realitively little pushback on driving the fit at least from a 'its not american' perspective. my roommate gives me crap on occasion because its a girly car, but i'll just rub it in his face that he drives an s-10 when he wants a mazdaspeed3. at least my car offers feedback.

and if you live in asheville, its even better. lots of hippies and treehuggers and they love cars like the fit.

Cool

Love my Fit...never ashamed. Don't need vulgarity or violence to ward off anyone who isn't a FitFreak.

I get the impression that most of you are younger than I am. By the time you get to my age (57), you will, hopefully have a few things in your past to be ashamed of (if you're lucky). But you'll be long past being ashamed of your car.

I'm PROUD of my Fit and love to have an opportunity to show it off. If somebody doesn't like it, that's their problem.

You know I have to admit that sometimes I don't want people to see me driving the Fit. I love the car, I couldn't be happier with the purchase, but I know that a lot of people look at my ride and think it is a girl's car, or that I only bought it because I'm poor or stupid or I hate America or whatever. And I've definitely been made fun of already (I've only had the car for 2 weeks, and Marines will make fun of anything). I almost feel like I am betraying the Fit by feeling ashamed of it....weird I know. But I understand what the OP is talking about.

You know, I've had a couple of people say "Aw, what a cute car." But then I open the doors and they see the quality and size of the interior and they are suprised. When I tell the my mpg, they are REALLY surprised. Then they ask if it's a hybrid and I tell them nope!

One week ago, one of my co-workers (who rides a Honda bike to work) was the first to notice my car. He laughed and told me it looked like a "pregnant rollerskate." Today, a couple of hours ago, he stopped by to tell me he looked at one at the local Honda dealer last night and is thinking about buying it.

^^ haha funny

But yea the OP lives in NC.. they're ****ed in the head over there I wouldnt even try reasoning with them as it is senseless.

Now Im no redneck but I certainly love my country. I dont however feel that I should have to deal with the problems involved in owning an American car. I dont believe in the unions and the pay they shell out to their workers. Despite the fact that the actual product is riddled with issues.

That being said I am definitely going to display my NRA and Glock Perfection decals on my car very soon, just got the car on Sat.
