Getting REALLY close now!
Getting REALLY close now!
I had hoped to get my car today. I just talked with my dealer and according to his computer, my car is coming into the Port of Baltimore - estimated delivery 4/18-4/22. I'm only 1 1/2 hrs. from Baltimore. The sale guy had a good laugh when I said I wasn't opposed to going to Baltimore to meet the boat.
Tomorrow!
I just spoke with Holler Honda in Winter Park, FL. They said they're getting their first Fits in either tonight or tomorrow. I went ahead and pre-ordered one for a test drive hopefully tomorrow.
I've spoken to 3 dealerships in this area. One of them didnt know when they were getting them in nor were they taking preorders nor would they quote me anything. The other two quoted $15,200 for a base automatic, plus a $600 "dealership fee", plus all the rest of the fees and taxes. I'm going to call a few more places tomorrow to see if I can find any place without that dealership fee, but I'm not too hopeful. Anyone know any ideas on how to haggle them down? (Unfortunately I'm a young buyer and first time buyer, although I will be as best dressed as I possibly can be) They're claiming that the fee is for "inspection and cleaning", which seems to be completely unnecessary for a brand new car right off the truck, but I know they'll pull the "new and in high demand" card.

I did get your email. I just replied saying basically the same thing as above, but it was rejected on send. Anyways, what dealership gave you that quote, and was there definitely no dealership fee (or was that already with the dealership fee?)
I got a 5.95% fixed 60 month loan from Capital One with an average FICO of around 730. I used http://www.lendingtree.com to get the quote. I've gotten quotes from 6% to 8.5%.

Hey everybody, I ordered my nighthawk black base, black interior base model 5spd (already put my deposit down)this was the last one that was on the shipment to my dealer (Crown honda) here in florida. I was wondering if their was anyway to tell for sure if it's on it's way to my dealership ? Or if it has even arrived in FL.
I do a lot of my banking with Wells Fargo. Looks like they have competitive rates with Capital One, plus they don't send me so much junk mail as Cap One.

i never worked w/ cap one other than sign something (something i signed as i was buying my subs), and i've been getting junk mail from them for 5 years straight.
If you go through American Honda, the rates for a 60 month buy isnt much worse then those posted here from Capital One or Wells Fargo. There "Super Preffered Rate" given to people with excellent credit is at 6.29% nationwide so compared to 5.95%, not a huge difference if you would rather do all the paperwork at the dealership and get it over with.
hey do they have any orange sport models 5spd there at HOLLER HONDA quietknight cause i am in pembroke pines and about 4 hrs away...let me know if you can i will appreciate it cause no one down here is getting them anytime soon
Just check all the Dealers within reason. There isn't much advantage in having the Dealer that sells you a car service it. You can have service and warranty work done at any dealer.
So buy it anywhere and service it close to you. I think you will be doing well to get the car at list price for awhile. If you can wait it might (might not) get better. Be firm that you won't pay over list. Most dealers do have a process fee of $49.00 to $199.00 Hard to get away from that id it's a hot car.
Good Luck!!!!
I think the next generation Fit will be introduced when the Fit is made in America. I usually don't like to buy a first year new car at a new plant.

one thing that could help you haggle is don't be so optimistic about the car. test drive and talk more about what isn't so good about the car. or if you can get ur parents to go with you and they can be so not optimistic about it, just so they don't think of you as an easy buyer. hope that helps ^^
