Getting REALLY close now!

I've spoken to 3 dealerships in this area. One of them didnt know when they were getting them in nor were they taking preorders nor would they quote me anything. The other two quoted $15,200 for a base automatic, plus a $600 "dealership fee", plus all the rest of the fees and taxes. I'm going to call a few more places tomorrow to see if I can find any place without that dealership fee, but I'm not too hopeful. Anyone know any ideas on how to haggle them down? (Unfortunately I'm a young buyer and first time buyer, although I will be as best dressed as I possibly can be) They're claiming that the fee is for "inspection and cleaning", which seems to be completely unnecessary for a brand new car right off the truck, but I know they'll pull the "new and in high demand" card.

Dealer Prep Fee
OK, dealers. Anyone want to defend that extra charge we're getting slapped with? I can see a destination charge for hauling cars from Japan by boat, then by truck. Are the dealers getting a chunk of that? Are you putting fuses and bulbs in at the dealership to avoid breakage enroute?
All the dealers in my area and the surrounding areas tell me that they won't be in until after the 20th. I want to be one of the first people there to see it and drive one. They have started a "will call" list, and they are supposed to call us when they come in. Somehow I have a feeling I'm gonna miss the boat on this one!
The only advantage I have, is that I am home all day. So, when they call I can get right down there vs. thos who work and may have to wait until they come home that night.
Here's hoping.

lol well yeah,...being bess-dressed for a Honda is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration. But I definately wont come out there looking the way I'll look during finals.
If I dont get anything up here in Orlando,...I'll be down there in Miami at Rick Case. I know they sell by volume and will give good deals

Heh, I know what you mean about that finals bit. I've had some rouuugh finals weeks. Definitely wouldn't want to go car shopping looking like I looked during those.
First time buyers unite! Make sure they're not forcing you to take accessories that you don't want - those can and should be negotiated off the price. Also take note of the group buy thread here and take that number into your dealer...maybe they'll match it. (And don't tell them the dealer's in Pennsylvania - you'll lose credibility on that number.)

True, the dress does perhaps say, "Hey, I've got a lot of money." I guess I was wanting to go for more of a, "Hey, I might look young but I'm experienced and you cant walk over me."
I will definitely be saying "no" to accessories. I will go check out that group buy thread though.
BTW - Holler Honda called today and said they have the vehicle in and available for a test drive this evening.

Do you think you could walk into the dealership with your parents? I think you might be less likely to be screwed that way. Plus, if they give you a ride to the dealership, the dealer can't do the whole "I lost your keys" thing.
Some of the richest people walk into dealerships in pretty poor looking clothes. I would just dress comfortably.
I dress down at dealership. I just want them to leave me alone usually. If you are there they will always come to you eventually. Don't be overeager, always let them give the price first, be polite but in charge.
My biggest peave at dealers is when some salesman half my age calls me buddy, and acts like we are great friends. Polite and professional is the way to go.

I bypassed all the salesmen and emailed the sales managers directly. Despite getting rejected at the dealership in person, 4 dealerships accepted the exact same offer 2 days later when I emailed the local 9 dealerships.
