You don't have your facts right and obviously never tried what I'm doing. It rains daily in S Fla.

Man, I must be in the wrong sub-forum - my opinion of the stock Dunlop SP31's seems to be quite a bit different from others on this thread . . . Noise, sucked. Dry traction, sucked. Feel/feedback, sucked. Tire wear, eh. Wet traction, eh. Comfort, eh. The one department where they exceeded my expectations was in light snow, where they were surprisingly competent.

For whatever it's worth, I've upgraded to Goodyear Eagle GT's - an ultra-high performance all season tire. They perform better in all departments than the stockers, and I've seen zero decrease in mpg. Still get 40 on the highway with cruise set @ 65-68.

Out of curiosity, how many years driving experience do you have under your belt?

What facts are you referring to? (I didn't mention any "facts") - my opinion that tires that are over-inflated by almost 100% are dangerous - comes from years of my own driving experiences - and most recently in the same car as yours. Please provide a link to any "facts" (not blogged opinions) that running tires at your pressure reading in wet weather isn't detrimental - and I'll be humbled.

As far as your signature - I tend to not put too much weight into self-made, unverified, and frankly unrealistic measurements. I monitor my own fuel consumption enough in the Fit to know that readings can vary widely - depending on when and how a person measures fuel at the pump.

I didn't mean to hijack this thread - but someone was asking about tires - and I consider your boasting of over-inflation of tires a dangerous practice to promote to someone that is trying to be energy conscience.

If you want to impress me with fuel efficeincy - drive as few miles a year as you possibly can. How many miles a week do you ride a bicycle? Driving fuel-efficient cars is important. Driving fewer miles is even more important - but I guess that wouldn't look cool in a signature block...

I do not, mostly because you failed to take the time to read about some facts on this forum and others you seem to be clueless about.

I'm at 40K miles - and just bought a set of tires to put on after the next trip.

I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires. I know they're not OE (they ARE the same size), but you might read a little about them - reviews, etc. - and compare the specs against other tires - you might decide on them instead of OE. I bought them at TIRERACK.com, and will have them installed at my Honda dealer.

I can't help but wonder if the Fit comes with the Dunlop SP31's - because the tires are made in Japan - and the car comes here 100% Japanese.

I wanted Michelin Hydro-Edge tires - but they don't make them in the size for the Fit (yet).

I have read that Michelin is coming out with a "Green-X" (low rolling resistance) version of the HydroEdge - and will have a size for the Fit Sport rims. I just can't wait - have to put a new set on here in about 1000 miles.

Are you comitted to the Turanza EL41's? (Sounds like you already ordered them). If not - check out the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires, and if you haven't looked around at TIRERACK.com - you should. Informative, and I've had nothing but great service from them.
