Mod your Fit, get pulled over?

I know it's probably been discussed many times before, but I'd still like to know what other Fit owners, especially those with modded Fits, think about the correlation between being modded and getting pulled over by the police. I have an 09 black base fit and I'd like to do things like tint the windows and buy black rims, but I am worried it would lead to harassment/more tickets. As someone with a "not so great" driving record, I really can't afford more hassle. So is there a line perhaps? Do you all still deal with this type of behavior from the police?

well as long as you drive like you should.. and get tint that is legal in your state... i dont see why they would bug you... also.. the louder you are, the more attention you'll get... exhaust, sound system, n such...

ohh and make sure u have a front license plate... esp if ur in cali..

My Fit is lowered and the windows are tinted, the front is illegal, but not so dark you can't see in, and the only time I was pulled over was when it was bone stock! Of course, I was driving 80mph on the freeway.

My last car was an 04 Saturn Quad-Coupe that had tinted window, body kit, exhaust, and CAI and I was only pulled over for no front plate and speeding.

I've never been pulled over just because my car had mods.

The moral of the story is, break the law/draw attention to yourself and you'll be stopped by the cops.

my FitS is modded and never been pulled over. it still meets all street laws so i dont worry about it. driving around a car that's illegal is too redneck for me.

I drive an 09 Tafetta White Sport. I drive very conservatively always obeying the speed limit but I have been pulled over a couple of times and followed a couple of times. I have 35% tints and 6000k HID's but I didn't get in trouble for those. Both times I've been pulled over I was coming out from a bar/pool hall late in the evening and the police asked if I had anything to drink that was all. But of course I did not so he had nothing else on me.

I had a Scion TC tat was modded up to the teeth. Tints, Supercharger, PIAA Pure white bulbs, exhaust system and was lowered. I used to live in a place which has pretty strict cops and they all wanted to pull me over but I never speed or drive like a jackass. But I did get a ticket for having my license plate wit tint shield, never doing that again.... But yea as long as u know ur states laws and dont drive like a jackass then ur fine..

I have tinted windows, black Enkei RPF wheels, a fairly loud exhaust and intake. I got pulled over and got the first speeding ticket in almost 27years, but I was doing 76 in a 60. I am glad that he got me on radar before I hit 4TH. gear and wound it out.... My speedometer said I was going 80, and I'd had problems with the patrol man for tearing up the unpaved private road I live on by spinning his tires when he briefly lived next door to me and he really enjoyed giving me the ticket.....chaaree is right.

My 2007 Honda Fit Sport is not performanced modded but gives every appearance of being a modded car. I have the car tinted, Mugen visors, racing pedals, Mugen rearview mirror, carbon fiber console cover, Mugen e brake cover, Mugen door sills, Mugen hatch garnish, Mugen plate cover, Mugen license plate holder, Mugen stickers, VTEC stickers, Japanese stickers, Rising Sun sticker and carbon fiber manifold cover - I have been followed by state and local police most recently alot more than normal. I always drive the speed limit - I will switch lanes if someone is going slow but always give the appropriate signals and watch until it is clear. They normally stop following once they realize I am not doing anything illegal.

My fit is mod, but i only got into a VI (Vehicle inspection) once because I have no DRL (Daytime Running Lights) in the day... and turns out that the DRL fuse was blown.

Like Dela said, so long you drive normally and obey traffic rules, there is no reason why u'll get into trouble with the police. Honestly, officers are human too, they dun wanna work or give out tickets that gets disputed 99.99% of the time =)

Not yet... but in a year with the new USSA administration with all of the different automotive regulations & of course ultra-taxation... we all might be surprised.

Definitely like your ride! Heck, I would pull you over just to see it up close! But how do you get around speed bumps brother? The only thing in my state is the window tint. And, I really don't like DRL at all! Honda America does not require them. ?Doesn't that make the bulbs go bad sooner?

I find that cops generally don't look twice at my car... Intercooler or no. I got lit up a couple months ago flying down a 45 at like 80... It was totally deserted with no houses or buildings around so I figured I was safe.

He checked my insurance and license, told me my exhaust was a little loud, and to have a nice night.

I agree with everyone here as long as you don't drive like a jackass bobbing and weaving through lanes without signaling just to get ahead of the others a splinter of a nanosecond earlier to your destination it should be fine. I got pulled over a few months ago for supposedly doing 80 in a 65 and the only thing on my car the officer gave me a warning on was my mugen window visors. He didn't bother with anything else. I was speeding and it was stupid of me to do so but I haven't done so since. Oh and if you're in Cali on the 5 FWY before the grapevine you'll see a lot of mini-vans, luxury cars, and beaters driving like idiots yet they never get pulled over. Look forward to seeing what mods you have in store for your ride ^_^
