Just bought the base automatic. MRSP + destination fee + $599 dealership fee. I also got a warranty and maintence plan, which bumped the total cost up a bit. Wound up being $18,300 OTD.

There is really no need to pay a premium for these cars. These cars are new; not that many people know. I believe that the market price NOW will be MSRP + destination. I project the price to lower in a couple of weeks depending on how the market flucuates and the demand for these cars. All 4 dealerships around me have a steady supply of cars and I don't worry about finding one (except in the right color).

I sell Honda's andI can pretty much garauntee that there wont be any change in price for a while. First of all there is very little mark up in the Fit compared to other Hondas. Second, we are a moderate sized dealership and we only have about 15 coming between now and July!

Initial markup is what dealers try to coax customers to pay. They try to tell you how these cars a such a hot selling commodity. Time will tell if it is. I was the only person to drive the Fit a my dealership. If the car sells well, the price will remain firm. However, if no body starts buying these cars, the price will lower (supply and demand law). Wait couple days, dealerships are annoxious to sell cars. I'm sure they will budge in price if the couple cars on the lot don't sell.

Couple factors come into play:
-High gas price regions will sell these cars faster
-New release models (Hot selling Civic, New Yaris to compete in the market)
-Final price of vehicle after TTL might cause people to turn away
-Size of the vehicle
-Ultimate regional demand

I just bought mine MSRP + Dest. Dealer only had 2 Sports, mine and a red one that sold before I got there. They also sold a base Silver the other day, and have one base silver left. They only got the cars in 2 days ago and all but one are sold. Not bad.

Of course that's what your gonna say, you're a salesman.

In a month or two people will be able to get this car for at least $500 to $1000 below MSRP.

Markup from invoice is $1200 CAD on the Fit sport, $1100 CAD on the LX, $900 on the DX. 500 under MSRP, sure. 1000? Doubtful. Civics aren't sold that close to invoice here, and they are at least as popular.

It's really not all that much. Taken from membership quote (quotes aren't free in Canada).

Red, sport, manual $15,720.00 BUT when I came back to buy the car, they added the sport grill, wheel locks, all weather mats, chrome exhaust, and extra tinting and jacked up the price to 16,664. I argued for awhile and told them to keep the D#$%^ matts and take off 128.00. I got it down to 16300 + tax , license, etc. - $250 for trade in (old 1988 civic hatchback with 210,000 miles). I probably could have done a bit better because I had the discount accessory prices from the College Honda site with me to show them how over priced the items were. It was the usual song and dance with the sales staff. I did not add any of the package options they try to get you to sign up for when you finalize everything. I needed a new car and decided that the extra over priced accessory items were better than waiting for a few more weeks for another one.

What ammount is the "documentaion fee" that everyone paid? I was charged $50.

I have been Fitted!

I picked up my Base Automatic in Storm Silver last night for $17,083. I was a little in sticker shock since the sales guy had quoted me $16,195 on the phone but he said that was before taxes and fees. I was the first person to drive off the lot at this dealer, but there was a couple buying a Storm Silver Sport right behind me.
I absolutely love the car! It drives so smooth. It reminds me of my 90' Civic HB, only it sits up higher, which is good - I'm only 4" 11''. I was really impressed with just about everything. The dash is easy to see at night. The magic seats are really easy to move up and down, and the cargo room is HUGE. I was a little disappointed I couldn't get the dealer to throw in a cargo cover and floor mats though.

I really dont recommend you guys paying more than MSRP. As i said earlier, i bought mine from Bale Honda in Little Rock for straight up MSRP. Mind you, this was the price they offered me upfront, not a price I had to haggle for. If you pay more than that, then they're just taking advantage of your lack of patience and perhaps overeagerness in your eyes. I was lucky to get mine so early, but just be a bit patient and cool at the dealership and save yourself hundreds of dollars. They'll get enough in to meet the upfront demand soon enough!

Its a wonderful car though! I'm so happy with mine! I went to walgreens with it last night, and one black dude said "man i love that black car!", and 1 group of people almost broke their neck still looking at it though their feet had already passed the car, hee!

In Detroit area I'm paying MSRP for a Blue Sport, 5 Spd., $550 Dest., $160 Doc fee (thats their meager profit), 6% Tax and financing with Honda at 5.85%. It should arrive today. I was speaking with the semi truck driver that delivered two while I was there. He say's he's never seen such a hectic release schedule. Those guys are making some serious overtime trying to feed all the tri-State dealers. The cars are in depot somewhere in Ohio for this area.
Insurance rates are a scam in our area. Full coverage is on average: $1100/ yr. I thought a 45 yr. old could find a better deal. What's the feedback elsewhere? I suppose a 95 mph in a 70 zone didn't help matters

I didnt mean the additional dealer mark up you all are seeing over MSRP. My dealership does not do that. That being said, everytime we sell a fit for MSRP our average gross goes down. There really isnt a lot of mark up in these cars. Honda wanted them to be affordable, so the dealer profit is cut. I am certainly not asking for you all to feel bad for dealerships. I am simply providing insight into the situation with these cars. I am not one of these a-hole salespeople, I really am one of the good ones that is more concerned with my customers happiness than the companies bottom line. I of course do need to feed my wife and sun and kepp shelter over our heads.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the car, I pick my Silver Sport MT up today, so not only do I sell them, I drive one too

Since you can't tell us what you paid for your own car, can you at least tell us the invoice on the Fit?
