Buy accessories at dealer or elsewhere?

I'll be buying my fit very soon and was looking for advice. I was planning on buying a few accessories(wheel locks, all weather floors mats, cargo cover, maybe others), from the dealer. But a friend fo mine said there were cheaper places to get these things. Can I buy these from an outlet or other store? Does anyone have links? I think this is probably a really newb question, but this is my first new car. Anyone?

Thanks.

Just about everywhere is going to be cheaper than the dealership. Shop Bernardi, H and A, maybe College Hills Honda, and eBay (make certain it's genuine) and then take those prices to the dealership to haggle.

There are several dealerships on eBay that sell accessories for less. One of them is the Honda Mall of Georgia under the eBay username Hondazone.

Addendum: Try to see if they will throw in the accessories you want when you buy the car. Sometimes they'll come down on the accessory price when you do that.

haggle but they know me well enough that i know their cost.

Cheaper else where

The best solution is to get them included in the price of the car. Otherwise, go online. I did. I bought side moldings, rear bumper applique, and wheel locks online. All wee about half price or more from the dealer's price

Sometimes it is more trouble that it is worth to haggle with the dealership. They of course play shell games so when you get an accessory thown in, they will try to get it out of you another way. Don't forget, they do this stuff every day. We only do it when we buy a car. Unless you are really on your game, they could get you.

I bought several things from College Hills Honda. They are cheaper right from the start and they are all OEM parts.

Obviously I did not buy my Fit from Carmax. My point is that the more you try to work into the deal, the more they will try to screw you. Unless you are sure they are throwing it in for free, it might be a better idea to get them separately.

99% of the time getting accessories everywhere else but the dealer will work out cheaper.

The dealers do carry some things that are pretty hard to find outside, though. Over here for instance, the Honda Access sport pedal covers for the GE6/GE8 Fits are more easily found at the dealers, and they're not too badly priced considering how much knockoff Mugen pedals cost (the knockoff Mugens are even more expensive than the rarer genuine Honda Access items).
