RSX and S2K muffler on a Fit

RSX and S2K muffler on a Fit

I tried doing a search for about 2 days now, and can't find anything. I thought I read somewhere that the RSX Type S and S2000 mufflers will fit on the Fit and provide better than stock results. A couple salvage yards have some RSX's and I was contemplating just yanking the muffler off for the heck of it and trying it out. Anyone remember what I'm talking about?

I do have the S2k muffler AP1 on my fit but don't know about RSX though.

yeah it just bolts up usings 2 special tools. its easy. here they are

I have an RSX Type-S muffler on my car. It has to be welded on.

It sounds nice. It's quiet like stock, but when you get on it - it sounds a bit more throaty than stock.

Well there we go. Doesn't look bad either. Was welding it on expensive? I think I could yank it out of the salvage for a decent price.

well you can hear a little sound compared to the stock fit exhaust, you need to go to a muffler shop so they can use the stock piping and weld up to the S2k exhaust cost me $50 to install.

i think i paid like $50 or $60 to have them weld it. i got the muffler for like $35 shipped or something. bargain price.

you'll notice that my muffler is hanging a little low in the picture - i had them do that so i'd have some room to fit a rear sport lip.

Sorry for all the questions, but what if you wanted to remove it? Would you have to replace the stock piping since it's welded?

yeah, you have to cut the stock piping to fit it, so you'd have to replace the stock piping if you want to go back to stock. or you could get aftermarket replacements.

when i had my s2k muffler fitted up to my car, i had him weld a flange on it so i could swap it out. mine bolts up just like any other axleback.

^^its a 04-06? i think... but its alot of money and custom stuff to do for a oem muffler, but i love it

I just picked up a RSX Type S muffler for $25 yesterday! In the next few weeks I'm gonna take it to a muffler shop to have it installed. Hopefully they can weld a flange on it and make it bolt on, so if I trade the car I can bolt the stock Fit muffler back on it.

Isn't the RSX-S huge? i looked at one before and it's like 2.75'' or something!! Although i prefer the look of the AP1 muffler, i heard from an S2k owner that the newer onces actually flow better! (and the hunt begins..) haha

Remember the S is a dual so it would have better potential flow characteristics. I asked if anyone had used the magnaflow muffler because quite a few S owners are going to them as a less expensive/lighter replacement exhaust with less drone and a nice sound with a stock look.

The canister on the RSX type S muffler is bigger than the Fit stock muffler, but the outlet is shorter and wider in diameter, and the inlet to the canister looks less restrictive. I don't know too much about exhaust dynamics, so sorry if what I'm saying it stupid.
