gearbox oil

gearbox oil

helooo I am new to this but I hope someone can help.
My honda jazz gearbox oil needs replacing. Can I use another oil other than honda's own. As honda's is very exspencive. cheers

all i can tell you for Manual tranny Honda makes one of the best and in the Us 1.5 fit .all it took was 1.6 quarts i believe so its not that much money.

It's okay to use another oil as long as the company is reputable. I wouldn't put cheap gear oil in there. I currently use Amsoil syncromesh. It made the gears much smoother.

amsoil would be the only non-OE tranny oil i would trust..but it doesn't come that cheap either. hahaha.

just get OEM.

I just changed mine with the Amsoil made it a lot smoother. Tranny only has 25k miles on it. I was gonna go with honda MTF but didnt want to drive all the way across town to the dealership. I also considered the GM stuff. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the three. I have heard good things about all of them.

When I changed it out, it took 1.5 quarts.
