btw here are daytime pics from the morning after the accident...at least you can take solace in the fact that a Fit can handle a head-on collision at 40mph, even when slammed.

funny how the right side looks decent, but my side got F'd. I tried to avoid my gf from taking the brunt of it lol

no, the junkyard is locked up and the tow guy doesn't want to risk me wrenching stuff just in case the adjuster comes while I'm doing it and then yeah, that wouldn't be good. I'm waiting on the insurance woman to call me saying the adjuster will be there at such-and-such time so I can take my dad's truck over there with my pile of documentation and questions.

The car is being towed home tomorrow. $80 for the tow. No other fees for having been there since Thursday. Pretty nice.

Adjuster said he is going to mark down totaled and see what his people say. He said it looks to be worth about $14,000. Which is great because I owe just under that. I'm going to start a part-out thread now that I know what I can sell. He said going back to OEM will not depreciate the value at all, so that's good. Thanks all for your help and support!

a blessing in disguise maybe? i've been on FF.net for a long time and can't count how many times you've bitched about how slow the Fit is .. now is the time to upgrade

i hope you've visited a doctor and complained about your stiff neck and difficulty breathing. "pain and suffering" checks are pretty fat. i was rear ended and went to physical therapy for a month for a stiff neck and back. i settled out of court for $6,700 after the attorney fees.

i'm with wdb, i would get the subie. more useable power at a reasonable RPM AND they actually make power with bolt-ons

Definately get a lawyer. I went to physical therapy for a month after totalling my S2000. Free massages and what nots. In the end I also ended up with $6,700 after lawyer fees. Can't beat free money and free massages.

Ill take a WRX in a heartbeat over an S2000. They can get really fast for really cheap, plus the torque and AWD is lovely.

I'm with them on the Suby choice. AWD is great if you go snowboarding a lot, but I'm not sure if you do or not. They also sound great as well.

YAY! That's good news. Except that they are not giving you any credit at all for your add-ons if you don't pull them off.

If there are other mechanically inclined Fit Freak folks in your area, maybe they can come and help you with removing or swapping the items, for a discount ON the items.

And really, like everyone says, if you still have problems, go to the doctor.

my advice is: if your neck is stiff you should definitely go see a chriopractor; you should make sure your spinal injuries heal properly to avoid potential problems in the future.

It is *NOT* free. You and everyone else will be paying for it -and then some- in the form of ever-increasing insurance premiums for the rest of your life as a driver.

If you've got honest-to-god pain, by all means get it taken care of.

If you just want a free massage, make friends with a masseuse.

I know this post is too late, but if she was at-fault and her insurance covered it, then you could barter with them for the car. You can also play up your injuries and make them a little nervous. Medical problems can be some serious shit, and they don't want to hear about how your neck hurts. They might be more willing to throw you the scrap car if you seemed less likely to claim injuries.

i understand where you're coming from. there are a lot of dishonest people but that's not always the case.

when i was nearing the end of my physical therapy i let my chiropractor know that i was doing well and didn't think i would need to finish the remaining sessions. he insisted that i complete the therapy to avoid any long term complications. i'm not one to question his professional opinion so i finished the last 4 or 5 sessions before he was confident that i've made a full recovery.

two months later i get a fat check in the mail from Mercury Ins.

Also, Is that Spoon Antenna still up for grabs? I'll take it if it is.

I have to add my sympathy note here, but SO GLAD you and your friend were not hurt. I did a hard fender bender a couple of summers ago and it SUCKED big time. It was considered my fault for going into an intersection in front of an oncoming truck (thought he had a stop sign - he didn't) but I didn't get a ticket. The cop said it was a bad intersection and they knew it. It was a rental car, so no damages to our cars, but it was traumatic for all of us. I HATE accidents! Our insurance company was stellar about the whole thing, paid the rental car company, the other guy's truck, and barely raised my rates.

I take it you did not get a ticket - how are you feeling, tough guy? You will have a hell of a story to tell....bless your heart!
