Revv'd out

Ok so i feel like my fit is revved out by the time it hits 4500 rpms. It feels like it's revving higher but I don't feel the car pulling anymore. does any one else feel this, or is it because i had a integra type R before this. My type r would hit 6500 rpms then it felt like a turbo fully spooled and that shit would stick me to the back of the seat. But with the fit i feel like it is maxxed out for power by 4500 rpms. Let me know what you's think Of and i have 350 miles on it. and i believe in driving it from the start the way you plan on driving it. I just think i expecting to much out of a economy engine.

Different styles of VTEC. The DOHC B18C VTEC is geared strictly for performance; the L15 SOHC VTEC is for fuel economy.

There is power after 4500 rpm. Not that much though. Around 20hp left from 4500 rpm to redline.

Max torque is a 4800 RPM and takes a pretty significant nosedive immediately after, but the HP keeps going strong, so it would be beneficial to keep it in gear as long as possible.

The ITR’s max torque is almost at the rev limiter so it still feels like you're hauling ace right to the bitter end.

The only reason these two can be compared is because Honda's in general in there small 4 cylinder motor's are peaky motor's so even though on paper the ITR has almost twice the power of the Fit, it doesnt have that HP till almost redline about 8k. If it wasnt for the ITR's very short gear ratios, it would be one slow car because its got practically no power under 5k.

The Fit and the new generation Civic motor's are rare in that they are more fuel saving motor's rather then performance oriented motor's like the older B series motors. Any Honda 4 cylinder with a redline under 7k is a bit of a rarity to a guy who has been following Honda's since the mid 90s.

You get all of that stupid emissions crap off of this car and it will free up some power. Installing a more direct flowing intake, and larger exhaust will help this lil engine breathe

ever since iVTEC the motors have been A LOT less peaky. Type-R's, while not insanely powerful before about 5k, still had enough go power to get around. And the short gears were a big help but by no means would the car have been "slow" without them.

Lastly, the Fit and the new generation Civic motors shouldn't really be compared to the B series. They should be compared to the D series. D15's and D16's specifically.
