Upgrading 14" base wheels-- offset, and strength

I'll be getting a base Fit & like look of the 14 x 6 Kosei K-1 TS wheels:
http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/Call...pecial=Pricing
(And at $119 each, they're not too expensive for a cheapskate like me.)

They should take the orginal tires, and there seem to be many more high-mileage tires in the 175/65/R14 than for the 195/55/R15 of the larger-wheeled Fit, but I don't know if the Kosei's +38 offset is incompatible with the +45 (or is it +55?) design of the car.

My other question concerns the weight and strength: steelies are heavier but strong, so the switch will help with unsprung weight, but will the K-1 TS be strong enough to not get bent by potholes, etc? They are billed as "racing" and only weigh about 9.3 lbs each, compared to my Miata's 14 x 6 at 12.5 lbs.

Need I be worried about either problem?

I seem to only be able to link to the tirerack homepage: http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp
After that you'll need to put in all the '07 Fit info. Sorry

Regardless of the photo/info link, can anyone help me with my two questions in the original post?

I would hope at under 10lbs that they are Forged wheels not Cast because a Cast wheel being that light will be prone to damage very easily if you were to hit a big pothole, it can bend pretty easily especially if you are using 50 series tires or lower.

They are cast, but the recommended tires are the 65's of the orginal base setup. Thanks for the advice; looks like I've got some more figuring to do.

I looked into these wheels in the size you wanted and they are Cast and they weigh 9.8 lbs not 9.3 but in this case its a good thing that it weighs a bit to help the wheels strength a little. 65 series is a pretty tall tire, I would at least go with a 60 series and if you lower it with some progressive springs, it should look pretty nice.

I've got my eye on the K1 TS wheel also. Grassroots Motorsports magazine has described these wheels as a strong, durable, light, and a bargain.

(just photos, they had more to say in print)

how about that crazy orange!
Tire Rack doesn't seem to be listing these as an option for the Fit sport when I search.

Thanks for all the help folks-- so maybe the K1 TS wheels are strong enough. But what about the offset-- the originals are +55, but the 14" Kosei's are +38, so is that within the range, or do I add spacers, or what?
