controversy of FIT and CIVIC?????

reading the pricing forum about the FIT and whats being said is real crazy...i was at the dealer and the there was an LX civic coupe auto...the sticker price said $17,160.00 or more i think but what i did pay attention to was the add ons the $895.00 fog lights and some other s**t...basically the price was at $19,433.00 and thats without charging of the 17inch Si wheels they slapped on there to...so if you buy the FIT sport you will get it cheaper then the civic...i would like to read what you guys think of the subject...i really like the FIT and will get one to so this price thing does not bother wether i pay for the sticker price or not...and also the dealer did not push me to buy the civic and at the end honda knows what they are doing cause they are killing the market right now...i will have a FIT my father drives an 06 accord and my brother drives an 06 civic ex coupe...we are just a big happy honda family

I seen a sedan fitted out like that at my dealership too when i went to go reserve my Fit. The civic is a excellent car, but it's not as roomy in the inside as the fit, nor as versatile. The fit is taking over where the civic used to be, and the civic is moving more upscale, let me say this... the new civic is one helluva a well built car, very high quality components, e.t.c. I also come from a very big H family, my dad has owned a Honda of some sort since 84, being all civics till 05(he bought a new accord). My brother has a 92 GS-R, I used to own a EG hatchback, a crx (my brother had 2 of these before me), and 2 other EF's 1 hatch and one sedan. My mother also has driven nothing but civics (naturaully), with her current car being a 98 sedan. Although my very last car was a s13 with a SR20DET in it, just never really liked it as much as I did my EG, harder to work on, constantly leaking psteering, e.t.c.

I've had a EG hatch and currently own a EX 1999 Coupe. Both good cars, but the Fit is a well rounded car. Good gas mileage, roomy, takes corners like crazy, and fun to play with to gain more horsepower. I was going to buy a 1999-2000 hatch, but too many people have that car. I'm ready for something new. It's way worth the price.

I am switching from a 2003 Civic Coupe LX 5 Speed to a 2007 Fit Sport 5AT. For the following reasons I have deemed the Fit a better car:

Fuctionality
4 Doors (Civic has two)
Hatch

Safety
ABS (None on Civic LX)
More Airbags (Civic has two)

Looks
Fogs (Civic has aftermarket)
Rims (Civic has hub caps)

Driving Experience
5 Automatic Transmission (Civic is manual)

I love driving but currently do not have time in my life to drive for fun. I have gone back and fourth with the idea of having a manual or automatic. I figure if I can get even have half the fun of a stick with the paddleshifter and none of the annoyances of driving a clutch when you just don't feel like it- then I will be better off with the automatic.

I will be paying basically the same amount monthly and only add on a few months to the end of my payments. It is a win win situation for me.

I'm in agreement here. I'm going from a 2004 Civic LX Coupe (Fiji Pearl Blue) to the 2007 Fit Sport 5MT (Vivid Pearl Blue).

I'm stoked.

We are a Honda family too. My dad had a '83 Civic wagon (had 206,000 miles on it), my parents now have a 2002 Odyessy, I had a '90 Civic HB (had 163,000 miles on it), my mother now drives my 2002 Civic sedan, and I have my new Fit. We love our Hondas and wouldn't drive anything else.

I just took a short drive with my sister last night who has a brand new 2006 Civic LX sedan. She thought the fit was so cute and tall with it's little donut wheels (5sp base storm). She sat in back and was so impressed with the roominess and commented how in her car there's nothing in the back for the passengers whereas the Fit has cupholders and fun. She was all giggles about it. I told her I thought hers was more luxurious and she said she didn't think it was any more so, just that maybe in the Fit you sit up higher but otherwise we agreed that although our cars are different, they are both still very cool.

took the car to a local meet and lots of people fell in love with it. It is a great little car that will dominate in the econocar class. I feel that the Fit holds closer to the idea of what the civic stood for when it was first released. The current civics are trying to move to a higher class. Not into luxury levels but out of the small econo car class.

We have had a honda since we got married 22yrs ago. We still have our 93 accord with 226k on the odo. The wife got a new accord EXL in 04 now I got the fit. I have had toyota trucks and nissan, just traded in an 05 frontier for the fit because of these unruly gas prices. Loved the frontier but with the amount of driving I do the fit will save me $3k plus a year and more fun to drive.
