Will a snowboard fit???

I REALLY want to go order a new Honda Fit, but I'm wondering if a snowboard will fit with the rear seats down. The largest board myself or a friend will have to fit is a 155cm sized board and I really don't want to have to put the front passenger seat down to fit boards in there... has anyone tried to fit one in there yet?

I'm doing this test on Thursday when I go for a test drive.

According to this page, the length in utility mode is 172 cm. However, this may be with the seats slided all the way forward. Perhaps you can get a roof rack.

Why don't u wanna use long mode? afradid to dirty the front passenger seat?

I don't know why honda doesn't have an accessory so the long mode is more 'protected'. I can not imagine a surfer using long mode to carry his wet surfboard, soaking the clean part of the passenger seat.

I just went out and measured my Fit.
From the back of the car to the end of the seat folded down, regardless of where the front seat it you have 56 inches.
Now diagonally you have 70 inches. Of course these are approximate measurements. My error being approxiamtely 2 inches plus or minus.

I would think the boards would fut diagonally in the back.

Okay, so I used my board and my Fit to take some reference pictures. Hopefully it'll help?

My board is 146cm. ('05 Ride Solace, yay!)

This is with the back seats down, and I have the front seats pushed as far towards the BACK as possible (because who is going to drive up a mountain with their legs crunched up under the steering wheel?).

As you can see, my board fits EXACTLY in that space. The tail end is touching the inside of the bumper, and the front is right at the back of the front seat.

So then, for good measure (and since practically all guys' boards are longer than mine...), I tilted it diagonally.

There's about a foot of space beyond my board.

And then, I pushed the front passenger seat up a bit, just to see.

Let me know if there are any other angles/arrangements you'd like to see. I wish Photobucket wasn't retarded and resizing half of my photos. I also wish my best friend were home, he's got a gargantuous snowboard.

And again, I'm totally not a car photographer. hahah.

Annie,

Nice photos, thanks for taking the time. I have a 143 K2 Luna which should probably be bigger, but I like terrain more than downhill. Nonetheless, I was just going to put the yakima rack from my old '92 Civic hatch on the Fit (is that one I see in the background?) but now that I know I don't have to I'm happy. Maybe I'll try to get in the last bit of snow still in Tahoe this weekend. That would be a pretty cool drive too.

Whoa great scott, you've got good eyes. I have no idea how you recognized it from the sliver that's showing. Yeah, that's an old Civic Hatch, but it's my neighbor's (we share a driveway/garage). They never drive it though, it just sits there, gathering dust. I feel sorry for it and give it a splash whenever I wash my car.

I didn't get to ride at ALL this season, and it's because I saved everything for the Fit. It was worth it though.

The curve of the back window, the spoiler hatch, the shine off the white paint..how could you not see a Civic hatch in those photos? Hee Hee, I guess I just really miss that car. I had the same color and model and I knew that car inside out. I super loved it.

And you're probably right, I can't go up to Tahoe this weekend. I spent all available $$ on the downpayment. Now how am I going to pay the rent?
