3792 Fits Sold in April!
3792 Fits Sold in April!
News for the members. Honda just released their sales figures and they sold 3792 Fits in April alone.
If the demand continues, we are going to see a shortage assuming the 40k Fits Honda plans to build for the US.

At that pace Honda could sell 80k Fits in a year.

released 4-20 april has 30 days so multiply by 3 and then by 12.
OR
take 3792 divide by 10 and multiply by 365. This equals 138,408.

US sold more Fits than Canada! Only 1278 Fits sold in Canada and I believe that Canadian Fits started selling at least a week earlier.

there are more people in the US.
Population of Canada 32,521,027
from http://www.statcan.ca/english/edu/clock/population.htm
Population of USA 298,444,215
from http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/.../2119rank.html
I think the ratio is in favor of Canada.

Canadian population: 32 million
American population: 295 million
Days extra sold in Canada: 17
Price premium, Fit Sport Auto:
Canada: $19,480 + $1,300 (auto) + $1225 (Destination/Freight) + 15% average sales tax (7% for Alberta only) = $25,306 CAD = $22,595 USD
US: $15170 + $800 (auto) + $550 (Destination) + 8% state Sales tax (any higher?) = $17,842 USD
Does not take into account lower average Canadian household income
If anything, sales in the US are slow in comparison. We could only imagine how many would be sold at the US price.

Maybe the Toyota factor? Canada also has a 5 door Toyota Yaris and we do not. We get one with a boot (Echo version 2.0).
Also, in the US in 2004, the last year in the US for the Toyota Echo, the TOTAL sales for the YEAR were just under 3600 cars!
Wonder how 4-door Yaris sales in the US will be, especially if the dealer has a Corolla parked next to it?
