Wow. That's a lot of stuff. How much would you pay for all of those features?

I want the gas door to lock/unlock with the car, an armrest, the telescoping wheel, and the variable intermittent wipers (not really that important) standard and have the LED tails and HID lights as an option package. The other stuff doesn't belong on this car. It's the cheapest thing Honda makes, not a Maybach.

Expect those features in the Acura version. Well, if it ever were to happen. I would likely be powered by the R18 from the new Civic.

for me, i don't think i want them to add these things as standard, since they will just charge me for them and drive up the MSRP of an affordable car

Does the term entry-level economy car mean anything to you????

Only one improvement

Love my Fit and if it had all those goodies I couldn't afford it -- and it wouldn't even be a Fit anymore! Only one thing I'd ask Honda for -- a slightly larger gas tank. Besides not having to pay as much for gas, the big plus to an economical car is bypassing the lineup of fuel hogs at the gas stations. Since I put about 100 mi/day on my Fit, I'm filling it up more than twice a week, and spending about as much time at the gas station as I did when I drove my Accord wagon.

Thumbs up my refinements

I agree with the gas cap, temp gauge, adjusting seats, t+t steering column, and maybe the rear-discs (just for look).

All that other stuff is just fluff. What do you want from an economobile?

Add all that stuff, and there goes your entry-level, economy car. I bought the Fit for what it is and I am very happy with it. If I had another couple of thousand dollars to spend, I might have gone for an Accord but that's not what I wanted. I love my little econo-box!

Adding extras adds $$ and you're not getting an "entry level" car -- in other words, not the Fit. All I ask of Honda is to increase the size of the gas tank just a bit. An extra day without stopping for gas would be nice. It was the only real criticism Edmunds' test drive gave the Fit.

Basically, what I read from this post is that Honda needs to sell a higher class hatch. The Euro Civic seems like it would foot the bill; it can be had with pretty much everything the OP listed in his first post.

I dont think think the NA market though is ready to pay upwards of $26-27k USD for a fully loaded Euro Civic.

I would like to see a midrange model - the features of the sport without the cladding. Cladding is just too Pontiac for me.

We can't all wait for the day when they sell $15,000 cars with far more features than the $150,000 ones. I'd also like to be able to flip thru an option book the size of a major US city telephone directory to select from a million and one options then wait 6 months for the custom built car to be built and sent across (All for $15,000 of course).

I would wait six months if it ment getting exactly what I want. Modern assembly lines make it easy to make the cars different.
