Mine were horribly out of adjustment, to the point that I simply couldn't drive at night. The roads around my home are too hilly, and the cutoff was so close to the car, that I often couldn't see more than just a few feet beyond the hood.

In trying to adjust the headlights, I found I couldn't be reliably consistent, when trying to count the number of revolutions of the screwdriver. Sometimes, the screwdriver would slip, and it would throw everything off. It was MUCH easier to track, when I marked the sprocket, and noted the revolutions from there. I parked the car, facing the brick on my foundation, and used chalk to better keep track of just how much I was adjusting the headlights (and to align them, left to right).

The lights suck bad. It is like there is a definite line on the windshield right in my line of sight. Almost like the windshield would be darkly tinted half way down. I almost get sick to my stomach---sea sick.

If it's making you that sick I'd definately take the car back to the dealer and get your money back.

I am going to try to adjust the headlights after I load all my junk in the hatch( I am in outside sales and carry catalogs, samples, etc). The extra weight in the rear may do the trick. I just got the car Friday night.

motorized headlight adjusters

I agree completely. The adjusters on my '08 fit sport are definitely set up for adj.servo motors, right down to the holes for the bolts. I called my dealer to see if they had availability of the motors and switch but apparrently there is no U.S. listing. I would really like to make that Mod to mine so if anyone knows where to purchase the parts let us know. I'm sure a lot of other people would like to mod theirs too. Also the notion of the lights being set at the lowest angle from the factory so as to accomadate this option is probably right on target. I adjusted mine using an 8mm wrench and going 1.5 turns by marking a gear tooth and counting the teeth. that seems to work great at 80mph down these country roads and no body has flashed me yet! BTW my fit is 100% Japan built if that makes a diff.

Perhaps those use a servo-motor to adjust the lights where we have the screw and the very earliest builds are shipping with the lights at what would be the extreme lowest position of the adjustable units. Just a theory. If I don't hear from Honda today, I'll take matters into my own hands. Already sat in the dealership two hours to be told "No problem found".

Hmmm... It seems Honda hasn't paid much attention to this problem, as the 2009 Fit Sport I just got has the same problem... the high beams are fine, but the low beams are miserable! Can you adjust just the low beams?

Oh, yes... it's darned dangerous if you live out in the country!! Deer are much more difficult to miss if you can't see them until you are right on top of them!! Tonight we took the new Fit out to see how the lights were, having been warned the low beams were inadequate... 5 deer tested us within 10 miles!!! The high beams were great! Good spread, great illumination. Able to spot the critters well ahead of danger. The low beams are woefully inadequate. If we'd have been relying on them, my new Sport would be on its way to the body shop already!! Gotta figure out how to alter them without messing up the high beams.

When I got my GE, the headlights were useless in the country (where I live). I marked the initial location on the back of the adjuster cams, took the car out to a level road at night, and adjusted the headlights by feel. I raised both 1/2 turn on the cam plate and it made a world of difference. Low beams that actually illuminate road signs and high beams that can see down the road-amazing!

I checked with the service dept at the dealership, and there is only the one adjustment for both beams.

10mm combination wrench. 2.3 complete turns and it works perfectly. From the front, facing the headlights, counterclockwise for the driver side, clockwise for the passender side. Took less than 1 minute on my 09.

This is interesting, I've been out once at night in my new Fit, in city, last night, and I got flashed by oncoming traffic twice in the 10 minutes or so it took me to get home.

And no, my hi beams or fogs weren't on.

Driving up to Michigan next Friday night for vacation, and am gonna be on a bunch of back country two lane roads.

I'll have a much better idea if this is a problem or not by the time I get there.

Maybe I should take some wrenches.

'09 headlight adjustment is labled wrong on the headlight housing. There are arrows indicating "U" and "D". You have to turn the screw in the "D" direction to move the headlight aim up. Moving them up 4-5 clicks (the cutouts on the adjustment screw) seems to work well. Mine are currently up 5 and works well with just me in the car, maybe a touch high with the family. I commute 120 miles in the dark to and from work everyday, 80 miles being 2 lane country roads.

I traded in my crappy Lincoln for my Fit, and the Lincoln had POS low beams and NO HIGH BEAMS AT ALL!

So to me, the Fit lighting is just wonderful!!!!

For everyone wondering about the servo adjust motors. I suspect these are found on the Fit and other small cars in Europe because it is expected they will be used for towing. This will cause the rear end to sag and throw off the headlight aim requiring an on the fly adjustment system.
In the US small cars aren't used for towing much and such a system was deemed unnecessary.

If it is like earlier hondas there should be a leveling adjustment around the headlight housing somewhere. On my CB7 it is just above/behind the headlight as you stand in front of the radiator.

Do not adjust it too high however, I mess with mine occasionally, a few turns at a time.

You can also get a set of Sylvania Silverstar Ultras (lows only) for like 50 bucks. They are quite a bit brighter.

I have the UK (RHD) Honda Jazz 1.4EX (GE6) my lights are too low and not even level with each other. They are also electrically adjustable (for heavy loads) so I can only turn them down even more. Does anybody know how to do these? There is an image on the plastic body to indicate 'U' and 'D' with Clockwise and anti clockwise icon (C, CCW) but no screws visible. I've looked in the manual and it says to take to dealer. I don't have the time or ability to make an appointment and be able to keep it. Also looking to 'upgrade' the H4 bulbs if anyone has tips or advice. Thanks! In advance.
