I'm going to say a train owned a fit, but hey, I've been wrong before.

It sure looks like a head-on collision with a locomotive, with the Fit's fuel tank exploding. The odd part is the amount of fire damage to the locomotive -- you wouldn't think that a Fit would carry enough fuel to do this much damage, although if closing speed was high, and it had a full tank, I can imagine the inertia of the fuel carrying it forward to the front of the locomotive. The car appears to be straddling the tracks, suggesting it was being driven along the track bed toward the train. Suicide? If so, this looks like a pretty foolproof approach.

The initial impact was definitely on the passangers side so it was probably another moron who could not wait a few minutes for the train to go by.

Judging by the picture alone, it looks like the rail tracks aren't on a street of any kind. Maybe someone was being an idiot and trying to beat the train for whatever reason (fun, youtube video, who knows what goes through some people's minds, etc) and lost.

WOW! That was good news that she got out and ran but if she had been a Fit Freak she would've been pulling like crazy to get her car off the tracks! Glad to hear she was OK but sorry that the Fit was not.

I posted about it here, and was told it was a repost:

So I deleted my post.
