Enjoy your car... send a letter to the BBB and DETAIL the people (sales, manager, finance manager and owner). Yes they got you for a few dollars, let them deal with the BBB and their douchy commentary.

Dang, mine was pretty expensive too.

All together, I paid close to $25000 for my 09 TW A/T w/o navi.

I had a $1000 dealer markup,
I got mine with:
-oem door moldings
-oem window visors
-mugen front grill
-mugen front underspoiler
-mugen rear underspoiler
-mugen sideskirts
-mugen sports exhaust (for mugen rear)
-factory rear window + hatch tint

Kinda makes the fit expensive..could have gotten a used s2000 or paid a little more to get the civic si...oh well, at least our trade in values are pretty high.

that's not too bad. dealer equipment with all those extra's is always expensive.

i remember when we were negotiating inside, they had a black mugen'd out fit like yours in the showroom for $26,xxx.

yes you got ripped off. but its your first time buying a car, it happens all the time with all dealers when you're buying from a walk in.

I don't know what it is, and I honestly don't even know if it's on the car in the first place - that's really something they could say they put on it and get another $995 out of the customer. If someone knows what this is I would appreciate an explanation.

Alright, basically I don't remember much how much the actual car costs, but I do know how much I will pay. After 72 months of payments (including 5.99% interest) I will pay ~$23500, not including the $3000 down payment. So if I pay in 72 months I will end up paying around $26,500 for this stupid car. Stupid is a bad word -- the car isn't stupid, it's very nice like I said, but paying $26000 over 6 years on Honda's cheapest model just seems stupid.

It's not so bad, the actual the remaining loan is $20,000 so a lot of that is in interests. I intend to try my best to pay it off in 2-3 years so I will be saving some of that.

So what do you guys think?

Monthly payment: $330 ($320 + gap insurance)
72 Month Term

If I wanted to pay it off in 5 years it would be $385 per month.

And actually, I never intended on doing 72 months -- I wanted to do 60 months and I got a quote of $330 a month over 60 months with $3k down which sounded very good to be honest (maybe too good to be true?), but they pulled a bait and switch or there was a miscommunication once I got to the finance office and they switched the payment term to 72 months. Now this is my fault: but at the time I did not realize 72 months was not five years -- I even remember looking at the number and nothing clicked in my head. I do realize 72/12 is not 5, and did before so, but at the moment I just didn't realize what I was looking at. So now I'm just trying to justify my own idiocy :P. So what do you guys think?
you got hosed on their "protection coat" IMO.

Lousy Price Balances Great Price

I think everyone agrees that Daniel123 paid an above average price on the Fit. But everybody who feels they got a really good price on theirs should be thankful - dealers have to sell some cars at a relatively lousy price if they're going to give the better shoppers a really great deal. They can't give everyone a killer deal and stay in business. I lifted this graph from truecar.com. There have to be some buyers out at the right side of the curve to balance out those on the left side.

You're making me feel guilty (not). Except for the walk-ins who get screwed, profit on an initial sale is not all that important; where dealers hope to make their money in the long run is with service. My 2003 Subaru Forester came with free oil changes for life (of the dealership, anyway), but they made their money back on routine service. Only after the dealer folded did I start doing my own maintenance (fortunately there wasn't much).

I'm planning to take the Fit to a dealer for its first oil change (currently 60% at ~4600 miles), and thereafter do everything possible myself. Oil/filter changes, tire rotations and disk brake pad replacements are pretty straightforward. I plan to ignore the minder, and rotate tires every 5,000 miles, and after the first oil change, switch to synthetic and change at 10,000 mile intervals thereafter (unless the oil meter indicates sooner). Nice, round numbers make maintenance intervals easier to remember.

OTD...He quoted 18,235 OTD (I live in PA..6% tax)..I talked it down to 18000..I have been lurking here past couple of weeks..reading the threads, and figured this was a good price. Appreciate everyone's comments.

I feel much better about what I paid for my used 09 sport a/t 13k miles. $14985 sounded like too much at the time.

I love my Fit
