I called Honda of America, and they said they don't know which VINs were affected, but they are compiling the list now and if you're affected you should know by next week. They said if you want an update before then, try calling in the middle of next week to find out.

they'll let you know if your car is burning or not.

dont worry about it. carry a 10mm socket and just unplug the battery if it happens to you.

"Honda has issued a recall for the previous generation 2007 and 2008 model-year Honda Fit, related to the master power window switch. In some very limited instances, when an extreme amount of liquid, such as rain or melted snow, floods the master power window switch in the driver’s door, it may result in a switch malfunction with a potential for overheating. We have confirmed seven reports of malfunctioning switches that resulted in overheating and two fires due to this cause in the U.S., with no reports of injuries in the U.S.

As we have just announced this recall, we will notify each customer by mail with instructions about how and when to have their vehicle inspected and updated at an authorized Honda dealer. If customers notice any malfunction with the master power switch in the driver's door, we encourage them to have their vehicle inspected as soon as possible. It is important for our customers to note that the current generation 2009 and 2010 model-year Honda Fit models are unaffected by this recall.

wow, sorry for the loss. that's very sad if it really was the cause.

i wonder if it would help to pull out the power window fuse in the mean time...(?)

makes sense right? i mean you wont be able to roll down your window but rather that and wait your turn to get the recall done vs burning down your house?

I hope my car catches fire and burns up so I don't have a car payment anymore. Is there a way to facilitate this fire?

i wouldnt freak out and call the dealer, just wait for your letter to come in the mail, and at the worst, carry a fire extinguisher in your car.. we used to hate when ppl call the dealer and the factory hasnt even made a fix yet.

the guys that took out the vapor guard and put dynamat in the door might have a lil more problems though..

The articles say 2007-2008 models. However I wonder how different could the switched be in the new gerneration (and older ones) to not warrant the problem? My 2010 seems unaffected, and I don't plan on dipping the doors in a lake anytime soon. I do wonder how much of this is manufactured hype, and how much is reality. If you look at the Web, half the sites that are reporting the problem list it as: "2010 Honda Fit Recall" Meaning the year of the recall, but it reads like the model year. I bet the dealers service departments will be hit with a lot of false calls, provided it's limited to 2007-2008.
