Secure gas cap

My wife just realized that there is no lock on the Fit gas cap (no release on the inside) she's very concerned. Is there a solution for a more secure cap?

Thanks
Don

Let me google that for you

Look at the 3rd link in the results, it should lead you to Bernardi Parts' site with the part you are looking for.

Yep, this as well as the Element's cabin air filter works with the Fit; at least for the GD.

And, in the short term invite your wife out into the driveway and let her attempt to siphon gas out of the Fit. You willl find that due to the extremely long run between filler and tank that the task is just about impossible.

I've never owned a car with a locking cap.

Has anyone ever had a problem with it before? I haven't.

In all the years I've been driving, I've never had gas stolen from my car. I DID, however, have my gas CAP stolen, once. It was a '79 Dodge Omni, and somebody stole my gas cap and replaced it with his broken cap. I noticed it because the caps were painted to match the body, and the broken one didn't match my paint.

The Element locking gas cap does work on my 2010 Sport once you remove the tether. I paid a discounted price of $34. However the locking cap does not fit in the cap placeholder while you're refueling so I have to place it elsewhere while refueling. The original non-locking cap does fit in the placeholder.

The parts guy told me the cap keys cannot be rekeyed to your door key. I would think there is a way to rekey it but not worth the trouble and effort.
