New Fit model next year? 2007 Fit last year of cycle?

Hi! My dealer told me that the 2007 Honda Fit would be the last year of the series. The 2008 Fit would be the start of another cycle in which Honda would come out with a different design for the Fit. The dealer was surprised that it came out so soon because Honda was going to release a new Fit in 2008. Just wondering if this is true or not...

I can see this happening. In any case, since the 07 is a mid year addition, it would have technically been around for 18 months before the model change.

No regrets though, I'm loving the current model, and I don't like to base my purchases on speculation. For all we know, it could be pushed back to the 09 model year.

Thumbs down More dealer misinformation...

Came out in Japan 2002 How long did it take for this Fit/Jazz to get here ?
Who is to say the next one might take - oh half as long? That would mean 2009ish?
I can't believe that Honda NA went to all that re-devopment for NA just to put a car out ONE YEAR? That doesn't make any sense
Tell your dealer to show you hard paperwork from Honda to back it up - even a web address.

I don't know..The dealer was "definately sure" the model will change for 2008.
I really want it, but i'm also hestiant because of what he said.

I haven't seen any Fits on the streets yet in Vancouver...I was thinking maybe they're restricting the availablity of the 2007 Fit because they're going to come out with a new model anyway....but this could be a result of only having one factory making the Fit...?

This means the 2007 Fits will be that much cooler, since there will be fewer of them on the road.

maybe the 07 Fit was just a benchmark platform to see how the market would react? It doesn't seem like that would be a very logical thing for them to do though. I always thought Honda cars had a 4-5 body style cycle before they're discontinued or changed.

It's not are far-fetched as people think. Why do you think the US and Canadian market Fits are being sourced directly from Japan instead of being built at a North American Honda factory? This tells me Honda is very close to unveiling the next-generation Fit and because Honda has plans to expand productiong capacity here in the USA expect the next-generation model to be built here.

If they upgrade for 2009 with say a 1.6L with true VTEC...or even i-VTEC 1.5L I would defiently upgrade

Honda is just testing the waters with the Fit in North America. If gas prices stay the same or go up (probably) than the little b segment cars are here to stay. I say little, however, the Fit is about the same as my old 1985 Civic hatchback in terms of size and hp.

It's just that all those Mikey D supersize meals have shrunk cars over the years.

But the Fit has been in the market for a few years now...in other parts of the world.
