for a 2009 honda fit upgrading rims

hello.. i just recently bought custom rims for my 2009 honda fit...
i was wondering what m i supose to do with the front ones when there is a big o center bolt that is holding the barrings together.... ??? do i screw them first and put the rims on top .. or what m i supose to to do .. because i really messed it up when i put the rims on w/o that center bolts... my car is making alot of rattling noise right now.. and honda said it was from my rotors on the breaks.. i went and i had my breaks checked out at just breaks.. they machined the rotors and they put new breaks on .. i still get the same noise.. also my ABS sensor went out and honda had purchased it... im back to my stock ugly wheels and i'm waiting for honda to put my ABS sensor on... Its real weird. idk if i messed up the car or what the deal is... because the noise is not from the breaks like stupid honda techs said... like i mentioned before i didnt put the center bolts for the bearings to be tight and i drove the car for about 15 miles w/o these bolts... until i noticed sounds.. and now the sounds wont go away...
anyways im trying to put the 16" rims on there but im gonna wait till my sensor gets replaced for the abs system to work... i dont wanna put the custom rims on because i dont want honda to say its going to void the warranty.... do u guys know what needs to be done ?? or what might have happened when i drove the car with no center bolts ... ???
again its a 09 fit... and i hope i didnt mess it up too much.....

Do you mean you removed the large nut in the center and drove without it? If so then you ruined the bearings. Better fess up to Honda and tell them what you did so they can correct your self inflicted problem before the wheels fall off or it could all be caused by those infamous stupid Honda techs.

WTF that is the axle bolt keeps the axles attached to the hub. hopefullly you didn't strip the splines on the axle. just put your stock wheels back on and take to honda.

Why in the world would you have taken off the axle nuts?

How could dealership employees miss two ruined front wheel bearings? If you really drove the car for 15 miles without hub nuts on it would be a minor miracle if that was all you destroyed. Something about this post smells funny, call me crazy but who has never, ever, taken the wheels off a car before?

same here...I mean this a little hard to believe. Why would one even attempt to change wheels having never done it before? I mean they are the only thing keeping you in contact with the road!!!!

well i was stupid.. cause i took the rims to a shop... the guys told me i need different screws or w.e. lug nutz.. so we went to auto zone.. and he said he couldnt find them.. they didnt put my wheels on... aka the custom rims.. so i got pissed off i went back to the store .. i got the lug nutz my self.. and i was getting pissed and i wasnt thinking straight...
so it was a long day... my lil son was crying alot.. it was getting dark.. and i just couldnt wait to put the rims on.. so i did it the way i said i did lol.. and now stupid honda people are telling me its the breaks.. i fixed the breaks.. but theres still noise... and by the way.. my car has been wearing its tires off... for a long time but i didnt have time to go get it checked out by honda.... anyways... im about to take the car to them tommorow ...
the noise starts around 40mph .... and its pretty annoyng around 60.. .. passing 60 it stops... i dont get it.. probably i fucked up the rings.. but honda said they are fine... its weird..

Interesting this post shows as his second one again. I think he should just stick to the Short bus.

This would be a lot more helpful if you took pictures to show us exactly what you're talking about and how bad the damage is. I'm kind of also wondering what kind of rims they are, if they were even worth all this, lol.

Or maybe he messed up the threads on the lug studs? By using the wrong thread pitch lugs?

I'm not sure we're all talking about the same thing anymore. The center axle nut does NOT come off casually. Not only does it take a ridiculous amount of torque to loosen, but it's staked down. And maybe I'm wrong, but the OP doesn't sound like someone who'd have a full set of mechanics tools around, which means the chance of having a big socket to fit it is slim . . .

From your first post, it sure sounds like that's what happened, but I can't make heads or tails of your writing. You're gonna have to take pictures and point out exactly what you did.

Yeah--I don't understand the need to take off that nut unless he was attempting to convert from 4 lug to 5 lug?

The splined axle, rotor disk, disk pads, hub and possibly outer CV joints have all been subjected to being trashed.... The hub and CV joints to a lesser extent.... I think I am more likely to cry than to laugh at this persons situation.

If not pictures look at the boxes that your new wheels came in and tell us what is written on the outside of the box.. There should be a label on it that says what diameter wheels they are as well as offset and bolt pattern. If you bought the wheels used did the seller give you any info as to what they would fit? It sounds like you got a little mixed up as to whether your original lug nuts would work with the new wheels or not. I'm with Daemione in that you don't remove the axle nut by accident. If I remember correctly its a 1" nut and it IS staked on so getting it loose requires a breaker bar and some muscle. More-over if you did drive without the axle nuts you would be on borrowed time before a wheel decided to part company with the rest of the car. Ruined bearings don't start making noise at 40 and then stop, EVER. And How did the ABS sensor get wrecked? its mounted to the strut! What did you do beat on the suspension with a hammer? As I said before, something stinks.....

I agree, more detailed info is needed and pics would help a lot...although I wonder why some of you are making all the negative remarks...this is supposed to be a thread asking for help. If you're not going to try and help then why bother posting at all?
