Sell Fit for Miata?

Hey guys, I've been a lurker on these forums for a while and I wanted some advice and opinions about something. I have an 08 MR 5spd Fit, and I love it. I was originally wanting a Gti, but my parents thought that was too expensive and not reliable so I went with the fit. Turned out to be an excellent decision as I love it, but I sometimes feel the pang to drive a more "sportier" car. I've always wanted a convertible, and so I was thinking about selling my fit for a used miata since I've heard nothing but praise for these cars. I've grown attached to my fit however, so my other option is to keep my fit as a daily driver and get a really old miata for fun. What do you guys think?

If you've got the cash for the car and insurance, than fire away!

I think I should speak here lol. I had a 2008 Fit, bought it brand new in May of '08. Lasted me til July 09 when some 16 year old slammed into me head on. I had all the mods to make it handle and look sweet:

I mourned over that Fit for quite some time, and it's the reason I just came back here. I'm not planning to sell my Miata and its parts for a fat down payment on a Fit, but really it depends on your needs right now. Do you have the need for all the room a Fit can provide? Do you need FWD? Do you need 4 doors? Do you need a Honda? Do you need 35-40mpg? If not, then go for a Miata. I like not having any car payments. I like how tiny the Miata is. How fun it is to toss around. How it looks sexy. How chicks dig convertibles. lol they are cheap, lightweight, and reliable. I'd say GO FOR IT!

mine weighs about 2,200lbs and will be around 2100 after CF hardtop and AC/PS removal. The 90-97's come just under 2300lbs from the factory. I want to get it under 2,000lbs eventually.

Insurance isn't bad. I think it's less than it was for the Fit. I pay $100 flat per month through Progressive. Keep in mind I live in NJ so it is probably less everywhere else.

Hope you have better luck with your Miata than your other cars trancedsailor. Are you updating your work on it anywhere?

If I had the money for a 2nd car for fun, I'd probably look at a used Miata myself. They just look fun to drive.

I have a 2010 Fit Sport, and a 1994 Miata. Best of both worlds, and both get decent gas mileage, I think its a good plan

Thanks guys for the replies. I'm thinking I may just sell my Fit, but I still haven't paid off payments on it. Do you think I would lose money on it? Its a 2008 Fit but it only has 10K miles on it, because I don't drive a lot (bike to school and work)
