I have a question on the Passenger Airbag Off Indicator. When I start the car with or without someone in the passenger seat, it comes on, just for a second and then goes off. Is this what it is supposed to do? Does it stay on all the time if the airbag is off? I have read the owners manual, but I'm still confused on this.

 

To your first question. Yes it's normal. It does that to show you that the bulb is working.

 

If the passenger seat "reads" between 25-65(not sure about the 25 but am pretty certain about the 65) pounds of pressure, it will shut off the air bag. This is because if a small child is in the front seat, having an airbag go off could be deadly.

There's a weight sensor under the passenger seat

IF weight is present & seatbelt is connected
THEN Passenger Airbag Off Indicator = OFF

IF weight is present & seatbelt not connected
THEN Passenger Airbag Off Indicator = ON

I don't have the manual in front of me, but i tihnk that's what it is supposed to do? I was moving stuff (i fit an ikea futon bed in my fit!!) and that indicator light was on
