Ashtray/lighter?

I keep squinting at pictures and rereading the specs: Is there really no ashtray or cigarette lighter in the Fit? Is there a way to add either/both?

I think the ashtray and lighter combo has been out of the automotive market for a while, as it "condones and encourages smoking." Although ashtray looking pockets are persistent in the actual car, I think the lighter are options now for most cars.

Thanks, I'm finally upgrading from a 1990 Toyota. I'm wondering how I'm going to charge my cell phone and plug in my cooler...It didn't look like there was an option to add a lighter.

OH! I see what you're talking about now. They don't call it a lighter anymore. It's now called an "A/C Adapter."

There is one available on the center console right under the temperature/vent dials.

yeah this is *** of honda to do... regardless whether u smoke or not i think this should come standard on every car. And as for the ac adaptor it only works for ac appliances but i think i read that u can't stick one of those lighter elements in there because it wont work.

Thanks everybody. It's going to be an adjustment, I see, fast-forwarding 16 years! It will be quite a scene when I try to use all these newfangled devices like cruise control and car alarm lol.

It's a cooler I bought at GI Joes about 5 years ago for about $80. You plug it into the cigarette lighter and it refrigerates or heats. I think it was from Coleman but my brother has it right now for fishing. It's pretty cool though I don't use it that often, and have never used the heater.

It's actually called a "12-Volt Power Outlet". It wouldn't make sense to call it an A/C adapter especially since it outputs DC voltage...

And the OG coil lighter thingy should also be able to plug into the outlet.

I am sure that you can buy a lighter that goes into the Power outlet and buy the official Honda ashtray from your dealer. Better yet, try not to smoke in the car, and then you might be on your way to quitting.

In the Uk the Jazz (Fit) comes with cigarette lighter, which just plugs straight into the 12v outlet. Also comes standard with the removable ashtray, or as the salesman called it, the fire proof pot pourri holder That can fit in any of the cupholders and is good for putting your loose change in for the tolls.

Don't quite understand this comment.

FYI smoking in the UK is on the decline, and a good thing too . In Scotland you can't smoke at all in public enclosed places (like California), and a similar law will come into force soon in England. Most (but not all) cars still come with a lighter though, because a car is not a public enclosed space, but a private one.

IMHO everone has the right to slowly kill themselves with cigarettes. I just don't want them to try to take me with them, or make my cloths stink in the process.

Go to Wal-Mart, to the automotive section, and for ~$3.00 you can purchase a "Butt Bucket" which drops into a cupholder.

Lighters are available at my local cheap grocery store check-out at 5 for a buck.
